Position Summary
The Director of Information Services serves as the strategic technology leader for the SCC, responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive technology vision that enables organizational excellence, exceptional customer experiences, operational efficiency, and business innovation.
Reporting to the Chief Financial & Technology Officer (CFTO), this position provides leadership for Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Enterprise Applications, Business Intelligence, Digital Workplace, Infrastructure, Data Governance, and emerging technologies. The Director partners across the organization to modernize business operations, enhance cybersecurity resilience, leverage artificial intelligence, and deliver technology solutions that support one of the nation's premier convention and event destinations.
The Director serves as a trusted strategic advisor to executive leadership, translating SCC's operational, financial, customer, and organizational priorities into a cohesive technology roadmap. The position balances innovation with reliability, cybersecurity with accessibility, and strategic investment with fiscal discipline.
This role is both strategic and operational-leading enterprise technology planning while ensuring reliable, secure, and customer-focused technology services for employees, tenants, event organizers, exhibitors, and guests.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Develop and execute a multi-year Information Services Strategic Plan aligned with SCC's strategic priorities.
  • Serve as the organization's senior technology advisor to executive leadership.
  • Lead enterprise digital transformation initiatives that improve business processes, customer service, and organizational performance.
  • Establish technology governance that aligns investments with organizational priorities and measurable business outcomes.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and develop implementation roadmaps that create competitive advantages for SCC.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, continuous improvement, and service excellence.
  • Develop and maintain an enterprise cybersecurity strategy based on industry best practices and recognized frameworks.
  • Lead cybersecurity governance, risk management, business continuity, and disaster recovery planning.
  • Ensure technology systems maintain high availability, reliability, scalability, and security.
  • Provide direct technical support, as needed, for complex or escalated help-desk requests. Ensure incidents are managed consistently and effectively, with a strong emphasis on timely resolution, customer service, clear communication, appropriate escalation, and confirmation that issues have been fully resolved.
  • Maintain a strong working knowledge of core operating systems and enterprise technology platforms to effectively oversee technical operations, support troubleshooting, and ensure the reliability and continuity of Information Services.
  • Identify opportunities to responsibly implement AI to improve productivity, analytics, customer service, and operational efficiency.
  • Establish AI governance, ethical standards, and organizational policies.
  • Establish enterprise data governance standards that improve data quality, consistency, security, and accessibility.
  • Lead modernization of workplace technologies that improve employee productivity and collaboration.
  • Oversee Microsoft 365 collaboration technologies and digital productivity platforms.
  • Develop and administer the annual Information Services operating and capital budgets.
  • Monitor technology expenditures and maximize return on technology investments.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to Information Services staff.
  • Build a high-performing, customer-focused technology organization.
  • Promote professional development, succession planning, and workforce engagement.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university with major course work in information technology, computer science, business engineering, or a related field; or, equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Six (6) years of increasingly responsible information technology management and contract administration experience, including three (3) years' experience supervising technology professionals and project management experience.
  • An equivalent combination of experience and education sufficient to perform the essential job functions and provide the required knowledge.
