Job description

Description: Summary/Objective

Dry Bar Comedy, an Angel original, is the world's largest clean-comedy brand with over 6 billion views across platforms. We are seeking a highly operational, business-focused leader with strong P&L ownership to drive scalable growth. This role emphasizes revenue optimization, conversion of views to Angel Guild memberships, strategic partnerships, expanded distribution (including FAST channels), and efficient operations — while leveraging centralized Angel Studios marketing expertise for amplification. The Director will own the full P&L, scale content distribution, maximize monetization, and ensure Dry Bar remains the undisputed leader in family-friendly stand-up comedy.

Expectations at Angel Studios
  • Amplify light in every action.
  • Know your customer (viewers, Guild members, investors, creators, internal teams) — conduct monthly interviews to align on needs.
  • Provide consistent, timely, compassionate feedback; address performance issues swiftly.
  • Exemplify Angel's team qualities and mission.
  • Proactively solve roadblocks with creativity and ownership (focus on building/testing/learning, not blame).
  • Master network effects for growth.
  • Own outcomes while optimizing resources (money, people, time) — break silos as needed.
Essential Functions

Business & P&L Ownership (Primary Focus)

  • Own the full P&L for Dry Bar Comedy, including revenue forecasting, cost control, and profitability targets.
  • Drive revenue growth through diversified streams: paying membership conversions, digital distribution licensing, FAST channel deals, social monetization, touring/merchandise, and strategic partnerships.
  • Identify and execute high-ROI opportunities to convert views into paying members (e.g., targeted calls-to-action, retention campaigns).
  • Optimize margins across production, editing, marketing spend, distribution, and operations.

Content Strategy & Distribution

  • Oversee release window strategy (Angel App, FAST, Audio, YouTube/Facebook, other platforms) to maximize reach and monetization.
  • Lead evaluation and negotiation of new distribution partnerships
  • Collaborate with producers, editors, and schedulers to maintain a consistent weekly release cadence and high-volume output.
  • Analyze special performance, audience analytics, Guild scoring, and conversion data to prioritize content with the strongest ROI and membership impact.

Operations & Team Leadership

  • Manage the Dry Bar core team (editing, venue operations, distribution) and coordinate with shared Angel teams (e.g., paid media, email, media pipeline).
  • Streamline workflows using tools like Monday.com to boost efficiency, visibility, and cross-team alignment.
  • Oversee release calendars, distribution timelines, and operational scaling to support rapid growth.

Live Shows & Venue Operations

  • Oversee Dry Bar taping season and live show calendar: booking comedians, scheduling tapings, show-night operations, ticket sales and pricing, and audience experience.
  • Ensure venue readiness with production partners (sound, camera, lighting), stage branding, signage, and front-of-house.
  • Lead expansion of live events beyond the Provo venue (church shows, touring, encore events) and use live shows as a Guild acquisition channel (free-ticket and discount offers, gift cards, geo-targeted notifications).

Comedian Relations & Partnerships

  • Attract and maintain relationships with key talent, agents, and managers.
  • Manage contracts, onboarding, revenue-share structures, and deliverables to ensure a reliable content pipeline.
  • Identify and cultivate strategic partnerships (e.g., brands, platforms, co-productions) that drive distribution and revenue.

Platform & Product

  • Partner with engineering to enhance Dry Bar user experience in the Angel App (discovery, monetization, analytics).
  • Provide business requirements and feedback for features that boost engagement and Guild conversions.

Brand Stewardship

  • Uphold Dry Bar's consistent clean-comedy brand identity aligned with Angel's values.
  • Champion creative excellence, audience trust, and family-friendly positioning.
  • Serve as an internal ambassador to promote the brand across Angel Studios.
Required Education and Experience
  • 5+ years in leadership roles within entertainment, digital media, content operations, or brand management — with proven P&L ownership and business strategy experience.
  • Demonstrated success scaling digital content brands or streaming channels, including revenue growth and audience monetization.
  • Excellent project management and cross-functional team leadership skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
  • Experience working with talent, agents, and high-profile partners.
Competencies
  • Strategic and operational thinking with strong P&L acumen
  • Data-driven decision-making and analytics proficiency
  • Operational excellence and process optimization
  • Leadership, communication, and talent relationship management
  • Creative problem-solving and adaptability
  • High integrity and alignment with Angel's mission
