Job description

The Company

NorthMark Compute & Cloud (NMC) is backed by dedicated leadership and investment, with a clear mission as it operates at the bleeding edge of technology. Its goal is to scale and enhance the high-performance computing (HPC) and cloud infrastructure that supports its clients' research, production, and delivery, enabling breakthroughs that shape the industries of tomorrow. Its engineers build critical infrastructure to eliminate friction in scientific research, simulations, analysis, and decision-making, accelerating discovery and driving faster innovation.

The Position

We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Construction Superintendent to serve as the on-site field execution authority at our Spartanburg-based HPC facility. This role owns daily trade sequencing and schedule execution on the ground - directing the general contractor's field teams, resolving cross-trade conflicts, and driving the pace of construction across all trades.

The successful candidate will be the primary point of contact for field sequencing and schedule execution at the Spartanburg facility, coordinating daily with the GC's superintendents and trade subcontractors. This role reports to the Dallas-based Director, Construction & Commissioning, while working in close coordination with the Manager of MEP on system-specific installation sequencing, and with the Manager of QAQC & Commissioning on readiness milestones and site safety compliance, but holds sole authority for directing day-to-day field sequencing decisions.

Responsibilities:

Schedule & Sequencing Management

  • Own and maintain the master construction schedule; drive cross-trade sequencing decisions (rough-in, close-in, finishes) across all disciplines.
  • Direct daily field coordination with the GC's superintendents and trade subcontractors; resolve sequencing conflicts before they affect schedule.
  • Conduct daily and weekly site walks to verify work is progressing according to sequence and schedule.
  • Maintain look-ahead schedules (2-week, 6-week) for all trades; escalate and resolve schedule-impacting issues in real time.

Field Execution & Site Management

  • Enforce site logistics plans, laydown areas, and access control across active trades.
  • Manage day-to-day labor, equipment, and material staging on site to keep crews productive.
  • Coordinate with the GC on manpower loading and trade stacking to avoid conflicts in constrained work areas.
  • Maintain daily field reports documenting progress, manpower, and any sequencing or schedule deviations.

Safety & Site Standards

  • Enforce site safety plans and OSHA compliance across all contractor workforces; issue stop-work authority when safety conditions warrant.
  • Partner with the Manager of QAQC & Commissioning to ensure installed work is ready for quality inspection at each phase gate.

Reporting & Coordination

  • Provide regular schedule and field-progress updates to the Director, Construction & Commissioning.
  • Coordinate with the MEP Manager on system-specific installation sequencing and equipment delivery timing.
  • Coordinate with the Manager of QAQC & Commissioning on readiness milestones ahead of quality walk-downs and commissioning turnover.
  • Present schedule status at OAC and stakeholder meetings as the on-site field execution authority.

Requirements:

  • 8+ years of hands-on field superintendent experience in commercial or industrial construction; mission-critical or data center experience strongly preferred.
  • Direct trade experience - has worked hands-on in at least one construction trade prior to moving into supervision.
  • Proven track record resolving complex cross-trade sequencing on live, active construction sites.
  • Strong working knowledge of coordination drawings, RFIs, and construction documents across MEP, structural, and architectural scopes.
  • Proficiency with Primavera P6, Procore, and BIM 360.
  • OSHA 30 certification required.
  • High school diploma required; trade school or technical certification a plus. Bachelor's degree not required for this role.

It is impossible to list every requirement for, or responsibility of, any position. Similarly, we cannot identify all the skills a position may require since job responsibilities and the Company's needs may change over time. Therefore, the above job description is not comprehensive or exhaustive. The Company reserves the right to adjust, add to or eliminate any aspect of the above description. The Company also retains the right to require all employees to undertake additional or different job responsibilities when necessary to meet business needs.

Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.

Benefits & Perks:

  • Company-Paid Lunch Stipend: Lunch is provided via GrubHub

  • Company-Paid Benefits: 100% Employer-Paid Medical in our High Deductible Health Plan, Dental and Vision benefits for employees and their families, 16 weeks of Paid Parental Leave, Employee Assistance Program, Life insurance, Short-Term Disability and Long-Term Disability
