Job description

Cash Lead Solution Architect

This is a Lead Solution Architect role within the Cash IT organization requiring Solution accountability and responsibility towards framing solutions that comprise products/capabilities across the Cash IT organization. The Solution Architect will be responsible for working across the Cash tech organization to provide solution consulting expertise to enhance our capabilities in Balances domain. This position will be responsible for ensuring consistent architectural practices are followed that result in stable, scalable systems that meet performance, functional and business requirements.

The Solution Architect will interface with Business and Enterprise Architects to formulate the high level solution that meets the Business intent. Will also work technical architects to ensure the robust Solution delivery and a robust product. Will work with other stakeholders within IT and the business to guarantee alignment of priorities and consistent approaches.

The Global Cash IT team is responsible for delivery for all of the bank’s application software related to payment processing for domestic and cross border payments through various market channels. The Global Cash IT team also manages our application software related to client facing and internal digital channels for input of global custody and banking activity. Another critical function of the team is to develop and maintain all of the functions in our Cash hub to integrate our payment processors and the bank’s global custody and bank liquidity platforms. The successful candidate will provide solutions consulting across this functional portfolio within the Global Cash IT team, with the primary focus on Balances domain.

Qualifications

• A college or university degree in Computer Science and/or related discipline is required including a minimum of ten years of work experience in information system development and solution/technical architecture. The ideal candidate will have relevant experience in the Financial Services industry.

Relevant Financial Service Experience

  • Payment System Experience and familiarity with payment processing Lifecyle and workflows.
  • Experience with Fund Administration, Custody Accounting, Liquidity Management, Cash Sweeps would be highly desirable.
  • Experience with payment direct clearing schemes
  • Experience with financial application integration, transformation, mapping
  • Experience with Bank Sweep products like Polaris and Liquidity management products.
  • Experience or familiarity with Demand Deposit Account applications such as Oracle Flexcube or Temenos

Relevant Technical Experience

  • Familiarity with payment processing lifecycle and workflows.
  • Familiarity with Architecture frameworks and techniques like TOGAF, UML and C4.
  • Recent technical experience in any of the OO programming language is a must. The candidate should be able to interpret the Java code and Spring framework and suggest design patterns as appropriate to solutions.
  • Articulate and frame solutions using Visio or other industry standards tools like Sparx, Rational, MIRO.
  • Understanding and familiarity with event-driven concepts and frameworks.
  • Understanding and familiarity with Cloud and Micro-service based solution patterns.
  • Software development lifecycle methodologies including Agile and Scrum
  • Relational and no-SQL Database experience

Nice to Haves

  • Familiarity/Exposure with Swift messaging, Fedwire is desirable.
  • Familiarity with ISO 20022
Tasks & Responsibilities
  1. Participate in initial project kick-off meetings with Business and frame the solution context having understood the Business intent and purpose.
  2. Work with Business and Enterprise Architect to ensure that the solution meets the strategic direction and intent of the Enterprise. Use such feedback and guidance to take the preliminary solution design for Design Authority review.
  3. Participate in Architecture Continuous exploration sessions to generate Features to implement the framework. Generate and enhance context diagrams to guide the technical architecture and design. Facilitate, moderate and participate in Domain Driven Design sessions.
  4. Work closely with the cash development teams to provide a cohesive and consistent approach to integrate all of the financial systems within the cash domain. Ensure that solutions are robust and remain up to date and utilize proven technology that is sustainable and does not become outdated.
  5. Consult with technology and business stakeholders to evaluate and recommend techniques, practices, or technologies to ensure efficient, flexible and resilient application architectures.
  6. Participate in evaluating, selecting, and applying solutions to meet business and technology capability needs.
  7. Provide input into strategic planning and long-range direction for applications solutions for our cash systems.
  8. Provide guidance, direction, and mentoring to in support of implementing solutions around the bank’s cash processing requirements.
  9. Participate in technology solution evaluation and design including proof-of-concept work and cost/effort estimation.
  10. Work with cash business stakeholders to understand and evaluate functional and non-functional requirements as input to application architecture solution decisions and direction.
  11. Work with technical architects and leads to formulate PoC to evaluate technologies and architectural and design patterns.
  12. Work with Product Owners and Technical leads to ensure that NFRs, permit to build and permit to operate checklists are accounted for all features and releases.
  13. Develop and maintain knowledge & expertise of Cash domain business patterns to inform application architecture decisions and direction.
  14. Participate in governing, developing, and implementing application architecture standards and principles used by developers to deliver efficient, resilient, and secure technical solutions.
