Job description

The Opportunity

The IBRI is seeking students who are interested in bioinformatics, imaging data, and computational biology. Interns will support real research projects while learning from scientists and data professionals. This intern will help analyze high-content imaging data and build tools that make large biological datasets easier to manage and understand.

Program Dates: May 17, 2027 - August 6, 2027

Application Deadline: Applications will be accepted through November 30, 2026. For priority consideration, apply by October 15, 2026.

Schedule: 35 hours per week

Stipend: This internship includes a stipend of $9,650 for the full program, disbursed in bi-weekly installments on or before the 7th and 22nd of each month

Responsibilities

  • Support high-content imaging projects and image-based data analysis.
  • Help organize and analyze large datasets from cellular images.
  • Use Python, R, or similar tools to process data and create summaries.
  • Improve documentation so analyses are clear and reproducible.
  • Work with research teams to turn data into useful insights.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; currently enrolled in a bachelor's program in bioinformatics, informatics, biology, or a related field.
  • Coursework or hands-on experience in bioinformatics, computational biology, or data analysis.
  • Programming or scripting experience in Python, R, or similar languages.
  • Strong analytical, reasoning, and problem-solving skills.
