Job description

We are seeking an experienced Estimator to analyze customer requirements, engineering drawings, specifications, and manufacturing processes to develop accurate cost estimates and competitive quotations. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of CNC machining and manufacturing processes, excellent blueprint reading skills, and the ability to collaborate with customers, vendors, engineering, and production teams.


Key Responsibilities

  • Review incoming RFQs (Requests for Quote) for completeness and technical requirements.
  • Coordinate feasibility reviews with cross-functional teams.
  • Develop detailed cost estimates including labor, materials, tooling, subcontracted services, finishing, assembly, and packaging.
  • Create accurate and competitive customer quotations.
  • Maintain quote logs and manage RFQ priorities to ensure timely responses.
  • Obtain pricing and lead-time information from vendors and subcontractors.
  • Support customer service, sales, engineering, and production teams regarding quoted projects and order discrepancies.
  • Communicate directly with customer purchasing and technical teams regarding specifications, timelines, and expectations.
  • Review manufacturing process designs for compliance with engineering principles, industry standards, and customer requirements.
  • Follow established safety policies and workplace procedures.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.


Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, machining methods, and heat-treatment practices.
  • Ability to create and evaluate manufacturing processes from engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Proficiency in mathematics including algebra, geometry, statistics, and related applications.
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production methods, quality systems, and cost estimating principles.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering blueprints with a solid understanding of GD&T.
  • Experience with ERP systems; Epicor experience is preferred.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work overtime as needed.


Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent combination of education, technical training, and experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of estimating, manufacturing engineering, or related experience in a CNC machining environment.
  • Experience in precision machining, gear manufacturing, or other industrial manufacturing environments preferred.


Work Environment

This position primarily operates in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment, including computers, phones, printers, and other business technology. Occasional interaction with manufacturing operations may be required.
