Job description

The Senior 3D Parametric Designer is responsible for transforming complex, free-form architectural envelope concepts into highly precise, three-dimensional construction models and fabrication data. Utilizing computational script modelling, this role bridges the gap between raw design intent and real-world mobile manufacturing for iconic, landmark metal roofing and wall façade systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Computational Modelling: Develop and modify highly detailed, 3D building envelope assemblies based on complex architectural and structural digital files.
  • Parametric Scripting: Write and execute Grasshopper-based scripts to rationalize complex surface geometries, design panelization schemes, and model specialized roof/façade components.
  • Fabrication Ready Hand-off: Convert 3D design geometry into flat, machine-ready fabrication components (such as CNC-ready files) and produce bill of materials (BOM) to reduce material waste.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner directly with external architects and engineers, as well as internal sales, estimating, and field installation teams to resolve design interferences and run clash detections.
  • Material Take-Offs: Perform precise material quantity calculations to release components to the manufacturing facility for on-site production.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Master’s Degree in Architecture or a closely related discipline.
  • Industry Experience: One (1) year of experience in the building envelope and cladding industry.
  • Specialized Expertise: Direct experience in the design, management, and execution of projects involving computational design and development.
  • Technical Design Capabilities: Proven experience preparing specialized design proposal drawings and developing custom scripting tools.
  • Software Proficiency: Hands-on experience with industry-standard CAD and parametric software applications, including Rhinoceros, Grasshopper, Revit, and AutoCAD.
