Wolff Excavating is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Excavation Superintendent. Wolff Excavating is a leading excavation company based in South Jordan, UT. As the Excavation Superintendent, you will play a crucial role in overseeing all aspects of our projects from start to finish.   • At least 10 years’ experience in general excavation, earth moving, and utilities infrastructure with strong experience in underground pipe/utilities.
  • Prior supervisory experience
  • Proficient in safety standards, reading site plans, operating equipment, and setting grade
  • Must have good math, problem-solving, organizational and communication skills
  • Strong work-ethic and solid integrity
  • Current Driver License with good driving record
  • Physical ability to lift 50+ pounds
Responsibilities
  • Job Operations:
    • Ensure that all required supplies, materials, equipment, and subcontractors are ordered and available according to job schedule
    • Read and understand plans, specifications, soil reports, etc. related to each job
    • Coordinate inspections, blue stakes, permits, temporary utility needs, traffic plans, and equipment rental
    • Maintain professional relationships with all regulatory and vendor contacts
    • Coordinate site preparation and mobilization when job starts, and plan and coordinate closure tasks when job ends
    • Routinely assess productivity, resources, and adjust plans to keep job on schedule
    • Effectively communicate with office on matters of compliance, employee relations, and client satisfaction
    • Oversee maintenance, care, and security of company equipment and property on jobsites
    • Keep accurate and timely documentation
  • Employee Supervision:
    • Direct supervision of foremen, operators, and laborers
    • Interview, conduct try-outs, hire, discipline, and complete performance reviews
    • Oversee staffing and scheduling
    • Provide training related to job tasks, equipment operation, and job safety
    • Ensure safety standards are followed
    • Complete and submit accurate and timely timecards with proper labor costs
  • Client Relations:
    • Communicate (verbal and written) with client, attend meetings as needed, keep job sites clean, and represent company in a professional manner
