Job description

Our client, a growing law firm with offices in Plano, Texas, seeks an experienced Human Resources Director to join their team.
The Human Resources Director who will serve as the operational leader of our people function and a trusted partner to the Chief Operating Officer. This is a hands-on leadership role. You'll oversee our HR team, support attorneys and staff across multiple offices, ensure compliance in a complex multi-state environment, and help build systems and processes that allow the Firm to continue growing. We're not looking for someone to maintain the status quo. We're looking for someone who enjoys building.
Partner with Leadership
Serve as a trusted advisor to the COO, to whom this role reports, as well as the CEO, shareholders, attorneys, and administrative leaders on all people-related matters. Build strong relationships across the Firm and provide practical, balanced guidance that supports both our employees and the long-term interests of the business.
Lead the Human Resources Function
Provide leadership for all HR operations, including employee relations, staff recruiting, onboarding, performance management, compensation, benefits administration, policy development, HRIS administration, compliance, and professional development.
Develop and mentor our HR team while fostering a culture of responsiveness, accountability, collaboration, integrity, and outstanding service.
Deliver an Exceptional Employee Experience
Design and continuously improve every stage of the employee lifecycle from recruiting through onboarding, development, engagement, and retention.
Recruit Great People
Partner closely with attorneys to understand their staffing needs and oversee recruitment of talented legal support professionals who strengthen both our teams and our culture.
Build lasting relationships with attorneys so they view HR as a strategic partner rather than simply an administrative function.
Keep the Firm Protected
Maintain expert knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws, with particular expertise in California employment law.
Ensure our handbook, policies, employment practices, and HR processes remain current, compliant, and scalable as the Firm grows.
Build Better Systems
Own and optimize the Firm's HRIS and HR technology platforms.
Develop meaningful workforce metrics and reporting that help leadership make informed decisions regarding recruiting, retention, turnover, engagement, and organizational planning.
Provide Leadership for Key Programs
Participate in the planning and execution of the Firm's Summer Associate Program and support other leadership development, internship, and professional development initiatives.
Collaborate Across the Firm
Partner closely with Finance, Operations, IT, Marketing, and other administrative departments to ensure the Firm operates as one cohesive team.
The ideal candidate will bring:
Significant Human Resources leadership experience within a law firm setting.
SHRM-SCP, SPHR, or comparable HR certification preferred.
Strong working knowledge of California employment law and multi-state employment practices.
Experience leading and developing HR teams.
Expertise in recruiting, employee relations, compliance, performance management, compensation, benefits, and HRIS administration.
Excellent judgment, discretion, and problem-solving ability.
Outstanding communication skills and the ability to influence through credibility and relationships rather than authority alone.
A service mindset, balanced by sound business judgment.
Willingness to travel regularly between Firm offices.
Comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, 401(k), paid time off, and other Firm-sponsored benefits.
Please reference job ID #71707.
