Job description

Description Under general supervision, controls & extinguishes fires, protects life & property, & maintains all fire equipment. Receives & responds to fire alarms & other emergency calls performing the necessary functions & operations to efficiently handle any fire ground situation. Performs fire inspections & pre-fire planning.

Minor vehicle & equipment maintenance, & other related tasks as assigned. Reports to the Fire Rescue Captain and/or Lancaster County fire Rescue Director within the established chain of command. Works 5 day per week 40 hour schedule.

Examples of Duties Receives and responds to fire alarms and other emergency calls performing the necessary functions and operations to efficiently handle any fireground situation. Performs fire inspections and pre-fire planning. Minor vehicle and equipment maintenance, and other related tasks.

Reports to the Lancaster County Fire Service Director through the established chain of command. Typical Qualifications High school graduate or equivalent with a minimum requirement of NFPA Firefighter II certification and Infection Control. Medical first responder required, along with Emergency Vehicle Driver Training & Pump Operations II preferred but required within 1 year of employment.

Must possess a minimum Class E SC Driver's License or CDL. All active fire service experience will be considered. Chosen applicants may be required to attend & successfully complete recruit school training of up to 12 weeks in duration.
