Position:Data Analyst Location:Detroit,MI Duration:Long Term OVERVIEW
  • The Data Analyst must be able to lead discussions with internal and external customers.
  • Must be able to take charge and drive results on projects.
  • Advanced ability to analyze, critically review a data warehouse, advanced SQL, and data flow is essential.
  • Aptitude, creativity, forward thinking and approach are key.
  • Healthcare industry knowledge is highly preferred, insurance industry experience is also valued.
  • Informatica experience is a plus.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

  • Develop medium to highly complex logical database designs, logical data models and relational data definitions in support of corporate and customer information systems requirements.Â
  • Work closely with customers, vendors, business analysts and application development project teams to resolve information flow and content issues.
  • Work on enterprise-wide complex projects/issues/enhancements as a team member or lead.
  • Work with IT teams to ensure compliance.Â
  • Work with business and vendor partners, and project delivery leads to determine business data intelligence needs. Interpret and document the data needs for the business.Â
  • Analyze program needs and translate them into data warehousing and data mart requirements.
  • Work in partnership with data architects to design the common customer view of information.Â
  • Define, document, and maintain all data definitions, manage data dictionary, data sources, business meaning and usage of information.Â
  • Recognize and resolve conflicts between models, ensuring that data models are consistent with the enterprise model (e.g., entity names, relationships and definitions).Â
  • Perform regular audits of data, develop single source data strategy.
  • Develop solutions and recommendations for improving data integrity issues, establish data profiling and preventative procedures to improve data quality.Â
  • Assist in the coaching and training of customers in the use of business intelligence tools to enhance business decision-making capability.Â
  • Provide leadership, coaching and mentoring to team members. Provide performance feedback to managers, as needed.Â

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in related field preferred.
  • Experience in Healthcare domain is highly preferred.
  • Analytical thinking; accuracy and attention to detail skills.
  • Must have a solid understanding of logical database design principles.
  • Experience data quality assurance and/or data management required.
  • Expertise with data quality tools for data profiling, cleansing and standardization preferred.
  • Experience in implementing solutions and processes for master data and hierarchy synchronizations preferred.
  • Understand the methodologies and technologies that depict the flow of data within and between technology systems and business functions/operations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
