Summary:
We are seeking a skilled F5 Network Engineer with medium to high-level expertise in F5 technologies. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of F5-based solutions to ensure the security, availability, and scalability of enterprise-level applications and network infrastructure. This role will require hands-on experience with F5 platforms, including BIG-IP, and expertise in traffic management, security configurations, and automation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Design and deploy F5 BIG-IP solutions, including LTM (Local Traffic Manager), DNS, and APM (Access Policy Manager).
  • Design and deploy Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML)/ OpenID connect (OIDC) authentication methodologies.
  • Configure and manage advanced F5 iRules and policies to support business-critical applications.
  • Optimize application performance by implementing load balancing, SSL offloading, and traffic routing solutions.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to F5 devices, ensuring high availability and performance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate F5 solutions into existing network infrastructure.
  • Monitor F5 devices and applications using analytics tools to detect and mitigate potential risks.
  • Implement F5 WAF (Web Application Firewall) configurations to protect against web-based threats.
  • Automate routine F5 tasks using APIs, Ansible, or other automation frameworks.
  • Maintain and update F5OS, system documentation, policies, and procedures.
  • Stay updated on the latest F5 technologies and industry best practices.

Requirements:

Education and/or Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements of this position are listed below.

  • 3-5+ years of experience with F5 technologies, including BIG-IP modules like LTM, APM, and GTM/DNS.
  • Proficiency in creating and troubleshooting iRules.
  • Strong understanding of Layer 4-7 traffic management, HTTP protocols, and SSL/TLS encryption.
  • Experience with F5 WAF and security policies.
  • Familiarity with network protocols such as TCP/IP, DNS, and HTTP/HTTPS.
  • Knowledge of automation tools like Ansible, Python, or REST APIs for F5 management.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Required experience is commensurate with the selected job level:

  • The Specialist/Analyst level requires a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience and 2-5 years of relevant job related experience

  • The Senior Specialist/Analyst level requires a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience and 5-8 years of relevant job related experience

  • The Lead Specialist/Analyst level requires a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience and 8+ years of relevant job related experience
     

Preferred Qualifications

  • F5 certifications such as F5 Certified Technology Specialist (CTS) or F5 Certified Solutions Expert (CSE).
  • Knowledge of cloud-based F5 solutions such as F5 Cloud Edition or F5 Distributed Cloud Services.
  • Experience with monitoring tools like SolarWinds, Splunk, or Zabbix.

  1. Traffic Management: Deep understanding of LTM configurations, load balancing algorithms, and health monitoring.
  2. Security: Experience mitigating DDoS attacks and implementing advanced WAF solutions.

  4. iRules: Writing and debugging complex iRules to manage traffic flows.
  5. DNS/GTM: Configuring Global Traffic Manager for multi-site application deployments.
  6. Automation: Using REST APIs, Ansible, or Python scripts for repetitive tasks and configurations.
  7. Cloud: Knowledge of F5 integration with AWS, Azure, or GCP environments.
 Working Conditions:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while

1. Usually, normal office working conditions.

2. Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time due to prolonged periods of sitting or standing.

3. Up to 20% travel may be required including overnight travel.

4. Visits to industrial/manufacturing settings which may include hazardous materials and chemicals, as well as extreme temperature conditions and loud machinery, and require appropriate personal protective equipment.

5. Ability to carry computer equipment up to 50 pounds.
