Job description

For the last six decades, Garver has been designing aviation projects for more than 250 airport clients across the country. Through this experience, Garver understands the complexities of airport systems held together by runways, roadways, facilities, and electrical systems that must work in tandem to accommodate daily needs for passenger travel and cargo transport. As part of Garver's commitment to continued innovation in airport design, our Aviation Design Center maintains a diverse, skilled design team dedicated to providing the expertise and leadership to assist our clients in meeting their current and future needs.
As part of the Garver Aviation Design Center, the Aviation Civil Engineering Intern will have the opportunity to receive training from senior engineers in various elements of aviation engineering design, including airfield geometric layout, pavement design, airport lighting and signage layout, and aviation facility improvements.
Internship Description:
  • Work alongside and be mentored by experienced aviation design professionals and industry leaders.
  • Work in an engineering office environment experiencing daily interactions with engineering staff, including weekly team meetings, design progress meetings, and construction progress meetings.
  • Receive training from senior engineers in various elements of airfield geometric design, pavement design and maintenance, airport lighting, and construction administration for commercial service and general aviation airports.
  • Gain experience in plan and specification preparation for aviation projects.
  • Conduct site visits to see Garver's aviation projects in real life, such as airport hangars, taxiways, and runways.

This is an in-office position; duties and responsibilities are generally performed in an office setting. Occasional travel to offsite locations to perform work and work-related tasks or to attend meetings may be required.
