As a Sr. Director, Applications Engineering, you will lead a fastpaced team that evaluates new Silicon Carbide (SiC) technologies, validates nextgeneration SiC discrete devices for data center, industrial and automotive markets, and supports release to production. Your job is to lead the team, interact with leading global customers and collaborate with teams across onsemi and have a direct influence on future product roadmaps. 

This is a highly visible role and includes up to 10 percent travel to support customers worldwide.

  • BSEE + minimum 18 yrs of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 8 years leading engineering teams.
  • Experience in design and development of high-power solutions for data centers, automotive, solar or industrial applications
  • Experience with understanding and solving multidiscipline problems and limitations
  • Excellent working knowledge of high power and hig voltage power electronics, power devices, power modules, packaging and solutions
  • Strong understanding of the full product development cycle (definition, design, validation, launch).
  • Strong understanding of high power power converter topologies and solid knowledge of SiC device behavior and key tradeoffs.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Great coaching, leadership, and mentoring skills to help the team develop.

Primary responsibilities

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to:

  • Lead a team of experienced application engineers: build and develop the team, set processes and standards, foster a culture of technical excellence, and drive continuous improvement activities.
  • Collaborate with customers on complex power semiconductor challenges and build longterm technical relationships.
  • Ensure customer applications and realworld use cases are embedded into product architecture and requirements.
  • Collaborate with Product Management on roadmap, specifications, and value proposition quantification.
  • Oversee the creation of reference designs, validation environments, and application examples.
  • Make key technical decisions, manage risks, and ensure performance, quality, cost, and timeline targets are achieved.
