The primary purpose of this position is to be the Air Force Sustainment Center (AFSC) Additive Manufacturing representative for AFSC/EN Advance Manufacturing and Repair branch within the AFSC/EN Directorate, with special focus on leading the insertion and application of Advanced manufacturing technologies including Additive manufacturing (3D printing) for mechanical, aerospace, and/or other engineering disciplines. Assists to determine the business and technical needs of customers in the acquisition, development, or sustainment of weapon systems, sub-systems, support systems, equipment items, or an equivalent product.
Requirements:
- US Citizenship
- Employee must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance as a condition of employment.
- Competence in the rigorous methods of scientific inquiry and analysis
- Periodic travel for temporary duty (TDY) may be needed to support location projects as well as symposiums and conferences to remain knowledgeable of new capabilities and technologies.
KSA's (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)
• Professional knowledge of engineering and technical management as demonstrated by a Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited College or University. Knowledge of Air Force and AFMC command structure, missions, programs, and organizational relationships.
• Deep, hands-on technical mastery of industrial Additive Manufacturing equipment (both polymer and metal platforms), with a thorough understanding of how lasers, kinematics, and gas flow affect the final grain structure and integrity of a built part.
• Proven experience working within a heavy manufacturing, aerospace production, or industrial depot environment. You must deeply understand the constraints, realities, and culture of the "shop floor."
• Demonstrated expertise in developing repeatable manufacturing processes, reducing scrap rates, and implementing robust process controls for advanced machinery
• A strategic mindset with the ability to lead enterprise-wide capability stand-ups rather than just managing isolated projects.
• Preferable to have a Knowledge of the AFMC planning, programming, and budgeting system.
• Highly proficient in writing and speaking effectively to communicate technical and management information with either technical or management personnel.
• Ability to gather, assemble and analyze facts, draw conclusions, and devise solutions to problems.
