Employees in direct hire remote roles often encounter challenges such as managing time effectively, staying connected with their team, and maintaining work-life balance. Without the structure of a traditional office, it's important to set clear boundaries and establish a daily routine. Regular communication through video meetings, chat platforms, and collaborative tools helps foster a sense of connection and ensures alignment on projects. Seeking feedback and proactively engaging with colleagues can also ease the transition and contribute to long-term success in a remote environment.

Excellent communication, time management, and self-motivation are standout soft skills for remote roles. These abilities ensure productivity, effective collaboration, and accountability in a distributed work environment.

What does direct hire remote mean?

'Direct Hire Remote' refers to a job position where an employee is hired directly by the company (not through a staffing agency or as a contractor) and is allowed to work remotely, typically from home or another location outside the company office. This arrangement offers more job security and benefits compared to temporary or contract positions. Direct hire remote roles are increasingly popular, allowing companies to access a wider talent pool and offering employees greater flexibility. The hiring process generally involves interviews and may include onboarding similar to traditional in-office roles.

Unlike traditional outsourcing, you'll be placed directly with a client as a core member of their team-giving you real ownership, career progression, and long-term stability.
Role Type: Full-time
Engagement: Independent Contractor
Job Summary
Own new business across one of the fastest-growing smart home markets in the country. In this individual contributor role, you will have full ownership of the Greater Houston territory-from initial prospecting and trade partner outreach to in-home consultations and closing deals. This is a high-impact "hunter" role designed for a sales professional who thrives on building a pipeline from scratch and delivering sophisticated, technology-driven solutions that make homes and offices more connected and comfortable.
Key Responsibilities
  • Prospect builders, designers, architects, and homeowners through aggressive outbound outreach, networking, and referrals.
  • Conduct in-home sales consultations to understand client lifestyles, scope opportunities, and recommend tailored smart home solutions.
  • Develop and present comprehensive sales proposals, collaborating with internal system designers on technical specifications.
  • Build and maintain long-term relationships with regional trade partners through one-on-one meetings and group presentations.
  • Manage the full sales cycle within the CRM, ensuring every touchpoint is logged and data is used to optimize outreach strategies.
  • Consistently meet and exceed monthly and quarterly sales and revenue targets.

Requirements
  • Proven track record in sales hunting or business development with a history of building pipelines from scratch.
  • Experience conducting professional in-home or on-site sales consultations and developing detailed client proposals.
  • Disciplined CRM habits, treating the platform as a core operating system for territory management.
  • Exceptional presentation and relationship-building skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Self-directed and highly organized, with the ability to manage a complex calendar and follow-up schedule independently.
  • Ability to quickly learn and articulate the value of smart home technology (lighting, audio/video, security, and automation).

Nice-to-Haves
  • 3+ years of experience in custom integration, A/V, lighting control, low-voltage, or residential construction sales.
  • Existing book of business or established relationships with Houston-area builders, designers, or architects.
  • Working knowledge of major home automation platforms.
  • Consistent history of exceeding sales quotas in a consultative environment.

Benefits
Fully remote role with flexible working hours
Work with high-growth international companies
Clear career progression to Account Executive and beyond
Performance-based bonuses and incentives
Direct hire with global clients (not outsourced)
Ongoing training, mentorship, and sales development support
