Principal Duties and Responsibilities

The Director of Operations provides strategic leadership and oversight for the administrative and operational functions of the Omaha Catholic School Consortium and its six schools. Reporting to the Executive Director, this position is responsible for overseeing financial operations, human resources, student accounts, facilities, technology, and other administrative functions that support the Consortium's mission and strategic priorities.

Working collaboratively with the Executive Director, Senior Accountant, HR Director, Student Accounts Manager, Facilities Manager and Fractional CFO, the Director of Operations promotes operational excellence, ensures regulatory compliance, oversees organizational resources, and leads continuous process improvement initiatives. As a member of the senior leadership team, the Director provides operational and financial insight to support strategic decision-making and serves as the primary liaison to the Finance Committee and Board of Directors on operational and business matters.

RequirementsKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities1. Operational Leadership and Strategy
  • Provide strategic leadership for the Consortium's administrative and operational functions.
  • Partner with the Executive Director to implement organizational goals and strategic initiatives.
  • Lead operational planning and continuous process improvement across all departments.
  • Foster collaboration among the Senior Accountant, HR Director, Student Accounts Manager, school administrators, and the Fractional CFO.
2. Financial Oversight
  • Partner with the Fractional CFO to develop financial strategies aligned with the Consortium's mission and strategic priorities.
  • Oversee the annual budgeting process in collaboration with the Senior Accountant and Fractional CFO.
  • Review financial reports, budget analyses, cash flow projections, and financial recommendations prepared by the Senior Accountant and Fractional CFO.
  • Monitor organizational cash flow financial allocations and recommend operational improvements to maximize financial sustainability.
  • Present financial and operational information in collaboration with the Senior Accountant and Fractional CFO, to the Executive Director, Finance Committee, and Board of Directors.
  • Oversee the annual audit process in collaboration with the Senior Accountant and Fractional CFO.
3. Human Resources Oversight
  • Provide leadership and oversight to the Human Resources Director.
  • Ensure HR policies, compliance requirements, onboarding, employee relations, and performance management processes support organizational goals.
  • Collaborate with the HR Director on school budget development, staffing allocations, workforce planning, and compensation strategies to ensure alignment with organizational and financial goals.
4. Student Accounts Oversight
  • Provide leadership and oversight to the Student Accounts Manager.
  • Ensure tuition billing, collections, tuition assistance administration, and family account services are conducted accurately, timely, and in accordance with Consortium policies.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, operations management, finance, accounting, management, or a related field; Master’s degree (MBA, MPA, or related field) preferred.
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of progressively responsible leadership experience in operations, business administration, finance, or organizational management, preferably in a nonprofit, educational, or faith-based organization.
  • Demonstrated experience leading and developing multidisciplinary teams across administrative functions such as finance, human resources, facilities, technology, or business operations.
  • Experience overseeing organizational budgeting, financial performance, and operational planning in collaboration with accounting and finance professionals.
  • Proven ability to analyze operational and financial information to support strategic decision-making and improve organizational effectiveness.
  • Experience implementing and improving business processes, systems, and technology to increase efficiency and service quality.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and lead organizational initiatives.
  • Knowledge of employment practices, regulatory compliance, risk management, and organizational policies.
