Job description

The Metrology Specialist will be responsible for conditioning the measurement plans and creating offline programs across a variety of measurement equipment and software. They will review, condition measurement points in CAD from the critical parts lists, and cross-functional dimensional team feedback. Coordinate with BDT, the Control Plan, ASME, Validation, and Supplier Operations. The primary responsibility is focused on BIW sheet metal parts to support WPE, and the team will extend support to additional areas if the workload permits. In addition to creating measurement programs, they will also support the debugging process in the home plant as necessary. They will support control plan creations and reporting templates in Dimensional Data Portal system.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in CMM/ Polyworks/ Metrology/ Quality/ Dimensional related.
  • Strong background in CMM Operation and Programming (PCDMIS & Polyworks) and Laser Gauge Programming (LMI)
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in CAD systems, preferably NX/Unigraphics & Team Center
  • Solid understanding of both contact and non-contact measurement including scanning and feature extraction techniques
  • Data Management experience (database, retrieval & storage, and reporting)
  • Statistics & Measurement systems knowledge
  • Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint and other Microsoft Office applications
  • Communication skills with the ability to build solid partnerships both internally and externally at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to work any shift and overtime as required, including weekends

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong background in Laser Radar System Operation and Programming.
  • Understanding of sheet metal BIW Design and Release Methodology
  • Experience with engineering ICT systems, including NX/TeamCenter/EBOM/Codep/Vis
  • Strong Problem-Solving skills preferably will certification (6sigma, Red X, DFSS, DMAIC)
