Job description

Quality Control Inspector

Troy, MI  |  Direct Hire  |

Our client is a contract manufacturer specializing in cable assemblies, electromechanical assemblies, and box builds for defense, aerospace, robotics, and industrial markets. Founded in 1978, the company holds ISO 9001:2015 certification and is IPC/WHMA-A-620 compliant. The Troy facility serves as a key production hub, delivering precision-built products to demanding government and commercial customers.

Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented Quality Control Inspector to join the Troy quality team. This is a hands-on inspection role — you'll be on the floor verifying that every product is built to spec, setting up and operating test equipment to customer requirements, and working closely with production and engineering to keep orders moving. The right person is technically sharp, a strong team player, and takes pride in getting it right the first time.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform detailed inspections of cable assemblies, wire harnesses, and electromechanical assemblies against engineering drawings and customer-specific build requirements
  • Set up and operate test equipment in accordance with customer test requirements and procedures
  • Prioritize inspection workload to align with production schedules and customer delivery demands
  • Verify compliance with IPC/WHMA-A-620 workmanship standards on a per-order basis
  • Identify and clearly communicate non-conformances to production; collaborate with the team to drive timely resolution
  • Work as an active member of the quality team — supporting peers, sharing workload, and contributing to continuous improvement
  • Maintain accurate quality records and documentation in accordance with ISO 9001:2015 requirements
  • Partner with engineering on quality feedback and root cause analysis as needed

Required Qualifications

  • Experience in a quality inspection role within a cable assembly, wire harness, or electromechanical manufacturing environment
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and build-to specifications
  • IPC/WHMA-A-620 certification or training strongly preferred — candidates without certification who have hands-on wire/cable assembly experience will be considered
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 quality management systems; AS9100 experience is a plus
  • Hands-on experience with test equipment and functional testing processes
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to clearly document and communicate quality findings
  • True team player — willing to jump in where needed, support peers, and contribute to a positive shop floor culture

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in defense, aerospace, or military-specification manufacturing environments
  • Background in table assembly or bench-level electromechanical build work
  • Familiarity with ITAR-controlled environments

Work Environment

This is a full-time, on-site position at the Troy, MI facility. The role operates in a production floor environment and requires the ability to stand for extended periods. Some lifting may be required.
