Job description

Responsibilities:

  • The PreOp/PACU RN is responsible for coordinating and managing patient care for surgical patients throughout the preoperative and postoperative phases.
  • They will administer diligent care to surgical patients via assessment, monitoring, and intervention including care for the post-operative patients recovering from anesthesia (general, regional, and local).
  • They will provide support, education, direct care to patients, and act as a liaison between the surgical team and the patient families/support systems.
  • Treats pain, nausea, and other post-operative symptoms of anesthesia.
  • Updates charts, patient files, and medical records.
  • Collaborates with the medical team on post-operative patient care and facilitating timely specialized interventions.
  • Provides comfort and reassurance to distressed post-operative patients and concerned family members.
  • Educates patients and their families on post-surgery care, as well as answering questions.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Position Requirements:

  • Must maintain current licensure as a Registered Nurse by the State of Missouri
  • Maintain Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) issued by the American Heart Association or preapproved provider.
