Job description

Townsen Memorial Surgery Center, Katy is looking for a Full-Time Registered Nurse PAT to join our team!

Current, active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by the State of Texas required.

SUMMARY: The Registered Nurse, PAT is responsible for coordinating the pre-admission testing (PAT) and interview/assessment process for patients scheduled to undergo an invasive or surgical procedure. Communicates with providers and/or their respective office staff as indicated regarding patient testing results to optimize the patient’s condition prior to surgery.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Ensures supplies and equipment needed are available and in good working order
  • Explains nursing procedures and actions taken to help reduce anxiety
  • Assesses patient’s physical and mental status
  • Documents patient care delivered, accurately in the medical record
  • Implements doctor’s orders in a timely and accurate manner
  • Coordinates patient care; provides explanations and teaching to patient/family
  • Plans for routine events and anticipates/prevents and manages/evaluates emergent situations
  • Adapts to unexpected changes
  • Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.
  • Participates in performance improvement activities
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Must be able to work independently, demonstrating sound judgment and reliability.
  • Initiative and ability to troubleshoot and resolve conflict.
  • Able to thrive and succeed in a team environment.
  • Exceptional organization skills, ability to multitask and prioritize work activity based on need, attention to detail, initiative, and follow-through skills.
  • Advanced level written and verbal communication skills, strong decision-making ability and attention to detail yielding effective conveyance of information.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Associates Degree in Nursing
  • Registered Nurse in the State of Texas
  • One (1) year of perioperative nursing experience
  • Basic Life Support certified
  • Advanced Cardio Life Support (ACLS) certified or must be obtained within 60 days of hire
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certified or must be obtained within 60 days of hire
