SFJAZZ is seeking a creative and experienced Video Producer to join our Digital team. The Video Producer leads end-to-end video production for SFJAZZ and its SFJAZZ At Home digital platform from live capture and recording to post-production editing, delivery, and new video product development.


Reporting to the Director of Digital, this role works cross-functionally with the Production, Marketing, Education, Artistic, and Digital teams. The Video Producer is the lead operator of SFJAZZs in-house video system, overseeing live performance capture at the SFJAZZ Center. The role also takes lead with SFJAZZs mobile studio setup to quickly transform spaces within the SFJAZZ Center to film artist interviews, educational content and more.


Success in this role requires strong technical fluency in live video production, broadcasting standards, editing workflows, audio signal flow, lighting, and real-time troubleshooting. The ideal candidate brings exceptional attention to detail, strong project management skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines. Passion and curiosity for innovation, experimentation, live music and jazz are all major pluses.


Responsibilities:

  • Lead video production and direction for SFJAZZ concerts, performances, and events across Artistic, Education, Marketing, and Development programming.
  • Direct and operate SFJAZZs in-house video system, including video switchers, video controllers, robotic and static cameras, and live graphic overlays.
  • Partner with audio engineers to capture, synchronize, and deliver high-quality audio for livestreams, archival recordings, and artist filming sessions.
  • Collaborate with the Lighting Designer to develop and optimize camera-ready lighting looks for live broadcasts and onsite productions.
  • Oversee freelance and on-call video and streaming technicians, as needed.
  • Collaborate, mentor, and provide feedback to additional video editors on staff.
  • Stream live performances across SFJAZZ and SFJAZZ At Home platforms, including Vimeo, JW Player, YouTube Live, Facebook, and other channels.
  • Work with SFJAZZ's Video Engineer and Director of Production to troubleshoot systems and coordinate technical support with third-party video, streaming, and audio partners.
  • Support the Video Engineer and Director of Production on additional performances, productions, rentals and special events, as needed.
  • Own the post-production workflow for SFJAZZ digital video deliverables, including footage selection, editing, audio integration, graphics, media assets, and final delivery.
  • Partner with the Director of Digital to develop and execute onsite filming sessions with artists, coordinating with cross-functional teams as needed.
  • Collaborate with Digital, Artistic, Marketing, and Education teams to ideate, pilot and launch new video products and content initiatives.
  • Produce additional video content beyond the SFJAZZ At Home platform, including customer stories, internal communications, fundraising campaigns, social campaigns, promotional content, and marketing assets.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions

  • SFJAZZ has a hybrid work policy. This position is required to be onsite minimum 3 days/week. SFJAZZ produces events and performances all times of the day/week, some evenings/weekends will be required.
