Purpose

The Enterprise Architect SAP S/4 Hana serves as the senior architecture authority for Liberty Utilities' SAP ecosystem, leading enterprise architecture, roadmap, integration, governance, and modernization strategy across SAP S/4HANA transformation initiatives, including RISE with SAP, ERP modernization, application rationalization, utility process standardization, cloud integration, and clean-core governance. Reporting to the Director, Enterprise Architecture, this role partners closely with business leaders, infrastructure, cybersecurity, OT, enterprise applications, vendor partners, and managed service providers to design scalable, secure, resilient, and business-aligned SAP capabilities across Liberty's multi-utility operating model. The position is critical to enabling Liberty's long-term digital utility strategy while ensuring operational reliability, regulatory compliance, cybersecurity, cost optimization, and standardized enterprise processes across electric, gas, and water utilities.

Accountabilities
  • Define and govern Liberty's target-state SAP enterprise architecture strategy, principles, standards, patterns, and reference architectures
  • Lead architecture design for SAP S/4HANA, SAP BTP, RISE with SAP, and adjacent utility platforms
  • Drive clean-core SAP architecture and upgrade-safe extensibility strategy
  • Develop multi-year SAP modernization and rationalization roadmaps aligned with Liberty's enterprise business capabilities and operating model
  • Lead architecture oversight for ECC-to-S/4HANA transformation programs, defining migration approaches, technical landscapes, integration strategies, and deployment models, and supporting RISE migration, environment consolidation, and standardization
  • Ensure scalable design across Finance, Supply Chain, Asset Management, Procurement, Customer Operations, and Utility Operations in partnership with implementation partners, MSP providers, and SAP leadership
  • Architect utility-specific SAP capabilities including Meter-to-Cash, Customer Billing, Work & Asset Management, Device Management, Field Operations, Vegetation Management, Procurement & Supply Chain, and Regulatory Reporting
  • Integrate SAP with ADMS, GIS, OMS, AMI/MDM, ServiceNow, contact center platforms, data & analytics platforms, and OT systems, ensuring support for regulatory and operational resiliency requirements
  • Define enterprise integration standards across SAP and non-SAP ecosystems, leading API, middleware, event-streaming, and BTP integration architecture
  • Establish enterprise data models, master data governance, and data lifecycle strategies
  • Partner with analytics and AI teams to enable trusted operational and enterprise data platforms and support AI-enabled process automation and intelligent operations initiatives
  • Establish SAP architecture review boards and governance processes, reviewing and approving solution designs from system integrators and partners
  • Ensure vendor deliverables align with Liberty standards and strategic objectives, and define technical debt reduction and architecture compliance processes
  • Support contract reviews and architecture governance for outsourced services
  • Ensure SAP architectures meet cybersecurity, disaster recovery, resiliency, and compliance requirements
  • Partner with infrastructure and security teams on identity & access management, Zero Trust integration, logging & observability, backup & recovery, and high availability architecture
  • Support operational SLAs and enterprise resiliency objectives
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
  • 10+ years of SAP architecture and enterprise technology leadership experience, including 5+ years leading SAP S/4HANA architecture initiatives
  • Deep expertise across SAP ECC, SAP S/4HANA, SAP BTP, SAP integrations, and SAP cloud transformation
  • Experience with utility industry business processes and platforms
  • Strong understanding of enterprise architecture frameworks (TOGAF preferred) and experience leading large-scale ERP transformations in regulated environments
  • Strong executive communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Preferred: SAP Enterprise Architect certification, SAP S/4HANA implementation experience, and RISE with SAP experience
  • Preferred: utility industry experience (electric, gas, water) and Azure or AWS cloud architecture experience
  • Preferred: experience working within outsourced or MSP operating models and knowledge of AI/automation opportunities within ERP ecosystems
  • Strategic thinker with operational execution discipline and the ability to influence executives, vendors, and cross-functional teams
  • Strong governance, decision-making, risk management, and prioritization capability, with the ability to simplify complex technical concepts into business outcomes
Compensation Data

Full base salary range $120,000.00- $160,000.00 per year*Liberty considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role and responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, education, training and skills, and geographic location.
