Job description

Digital Marketing Specialist
Location: 5000 Kansas Avenue Kansas City, KS 66106
Work Model: Hybrid
Department: Marketing
Make us your BEST Choice!
Position Overview
We are seeking a dynamic, results-driven Digital Marketing Specialist to support and grow the digital presence of our independent retail members across the Kansas, Missouri, and Oklahoma regions.
In this dual-focus role, you will act as both a digital marketing executor and an internal solutions salesperson. You will be responsible for creating and executing comprehensive digital strategies for our retailers-ranging from social media and paid programmatic ads to texting campaigns. Simultaneously, you will use your "sales attitude" to pitch, consult on, and sell AWG's suite of digital services (such as custom websites, digital coupons, e-commerce platforms, and digital circulars) to store owners to help grow their businesses.
Key Responsibilities
Digital Marketing & Campaign Execution
  • Social Media & Engagement: Manage, curate, and schedule organic content across retailers' social media channels. Build and execute targeted paid Meta (Facebook/Instagram) ad campaigns to drive local store traffic and community engagement.
  • Programmatic & Multi-Channel Advertising: Set up, monitor, and optimize localized programmatic media campaigns, including Connected TV (CTV), Geofencing, Display Ads, and local SEO strategies.
  • Mobile Marketing: Develop, write, and launch SMS/texting marketing campaigns to drive immediate weekly sales and customer loyalty.
  • Content Creation: Utilize Canva to create visually appealing, brand-aligned graphics and assets for social media and digital ads (expert design skills not required, but a strong eye for layout is essential).

Account Management & Internal Sales
  • Service Growth: Actively consult with independent retailers to pitch and sell AWG's digital solutions portfolio, including new websites, digital coupon integration, online shopping/e-commerce setups, and interactive weekly circulars.
  • Retailer Consultations: Occasionally travel across the tri-state territory (KS, MO, OK) to meet store owners, understand their unique market needs, and present tailored marketing packages.

Analytics & Reporting
  • Performance Tracking: Consolidate, analyze, and interpret monthly performance data across all social and programmatic media channels.
  • Retailer Reporting: Deliver clear, actionable monthly analytics reports to retailers, demonstrating ROI and providing strategic recommendations for future growth.

Other duties and special projects may be assigned as the independent grocery landscape and digital technologies evolve.
Qualifications & Skills
  • Experience: 2-4 years of experience in digital marketing, agency account management, or a related role. Experience in retail, grocery, or CPG (Consumer Packaged Goods) is a major plus.
  • A "Sales Attitude": Comfortable pitching services to business owners, handling objections, and driving adoption of digital programs.
  • Programmatic & Digital Expertise: Hands-on experience with Meta Ads Manager, programmatic advertising platforms (CTV, Display, Geofencing), and a solid understanding of localized SEO.
  • Design Savvy: Functional proficiency in Canva for quick-turnaround graphic creation.
  • Communication & Presentation: Strong public speaking and presentation skills; ability to translate complex digital analytics into simple, business-minded language for retailers.
  • Travel Readiness: Willingness to travel up to 25% within the KS, MO, and OK territory for store visits, grand openings, and regional trade shows.
  • Adaptability: A self-starter mentality capable of managing multiple retail accounts simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
