The mission of the Digital Technology department is to design, build, deliver and operate robust, efficient, and scalable technology solutions that align with our strategic, business and technology goals.

THE OPPORTUNITY

Aritzia is growing and our Digital Technology team is growing with it. This is a unique opportunity to be part of the team responsible for delivering everyday luxury experiences to Aritzia's clients by leveraging technology to meet and exceed the vision and mission of the business. As a Senior Developer, Backend, Digital Technology, you will be responsible for designing, developing, implementing, and supporting Aritzia's technology. This role will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including Digital Product Management, Digital Design, Omni, Enterprise Technology, Data & Analytics, and Marketing. THE ROLE

As a Senior Developer, Backend, Digital Technology, you will:

  • Contribute to innovative technology solutions that meet business needs for today and tomorrow
  • Help translate business requirements into scalable, user-centric technology designs for Aritzia
  • Contribute to the development, configuration, and integration of solutions to ensure the solution design intent is realized and works seamlessly with existing systems and infrastructure
  • Implement structured testing that ensures functionality and identify and address deficiencies
  • Launch and proactively maintain technology solutions, collaborating with teammates to improve development processes

THE QUALIFICATIONS

The Senior Developer, Backend, Digital Technology has proven skills, certifications, education and/or experience with the following:

  • Experience in building and scaling APIs, with solid understanding of API versioning, documentation (OpenAPI, Swagger), and design patterns
  • Core Programming Languages and Frameworks: Node.Js, Typescript
  • Databases and Caching Layer: CloudSQL, Firestore, Redis
  • E-Commerce Platforms and Core Integrations: Vital retail ecosystem integrations like PIM (Product Information), OMS (Order Management), ERP systems, or payment processors (e.g. Adyen) and Commerce (e.g. Salesforce)
  • Search and Product Discovery Engines: Search indexers (e.g. Elasticsearch, Algolia)
  • High-Concurrency and Event-Driven Architecture: Managing inventory locks and handling large traffic spikes during flash sales or product drops
  • Hands-on experience with microservices and cloud platforms, including building and integrating cloud-based solutions across distributed systems (Google Cloud Platform or equivalent preferred, inclusive of Cloud Run, Cloud Functions, Pub/Sub, Cloud SQL, Firestore, Cloud Storage, and IAM)
  • Strong experience designing scalable backend systems, including web-scale architecture and supporting high traffic Digital Commerce platforms
  • Experience implementing secure authentication and authorization (OAuth2, JWT), secrets management, and best practices aligned with PCI/PII security standards
  • Solid DevOps fundamentals including CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code (Terraform preferred), automated testing, and observability using Cloud Logging/Monitoring
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex production issues, analyze logs and traces, and drive high availability and reliability across services
  • Comfortabilitycollaborating with clients, articulating technical recommendations, and balancing business goals
  • Skillsinoptimizingdevelopment workflows, improving efficiency, and mentoring team members

THE COMPENSATION

At Aritzia, we provide market-leading compensation packages designed to reward impact through our pay-for-performance philosophy.
The range for roles at this level is $100,000-$300,000per year. Total compensation may include base, bonus and/or equity depending on the role, which has the potential to be greater than this range.
