Edgewater Technical Associates is seeking qualified candidates for a Mechanical Design Engineer opportunity to support the Savannah River Site.
Work Location: Aiken, SC
Mechanical Design Engineer-
The Mechanical Design Engineer is responsible for design changes affecting mechanical equipment and fluid systems including tanks, pumps, valves, piping, filters, heat exchangers, contactors, and utility systems.
Duties:
  • Prepare mechanical calculations, equipment specifications, piping design inputs, and installation packages.
  • Support modifications to process equipment, piping systems, mechanical supports, and maintenance access features.
  • Evaluate pressure boundaries, equipment replacement requirements, material compatibility, and reliability impacts.
  • Coordinate with process, structural, electrical, and radiological engineering on system interfaces.
  • Support equipment selection, procurement inputs, installation support, and system turnover.
  • Participate in field troubleshooting and mechanical design resolution.

Education/Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Experience with mechanical system design in industrial facilities.
  • Knowledge of piping and equipment design practices.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with pumps, valves, tanks, filters, and heat exchangers in process plants.
  • Familiarity with highly regulated or hazardous operating environments

Other Job Requirements:
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE security clearance.
