About the Role
The Principal Engineer provides technical and applications support of audio and noise management projects to automotive OEM customers. The position will be a subject matter expert towards the customer and internal Software and Requirement engineering. This role will report to the Sr. Director, Software Project Engineering, Car Audio.
Your Team
This position has no direct reports. The role works closely with other team members, including Solution Management, Software Program Managers, Software Project Leads, Acoustic Engineers, and Customer Program Managers to drive successful project delivery to meet timing, cost, and quality.
What You Will Do
  • Partner with other Engineering teams, Product teams and CG teams to build long-term relationships with customers.
  • Act as the first response for embedded system issues found during development at the customer's location.
  • Work closely with customers and provide technical support in a timely manner.
  • Participate in audio system bench testing at customer's site or other third-party testing facility, representing the software product.
  • Support of inspection and verification testing activities at OEM or at other Tier-1 suppliers as needed, such as bench or vehicle testing of modules.
  • Appropriate escalation of issues to customers and/or HARMAN managements to resolve customer issues.
  • Manage technical specification discussions with customers, coordinate support for activities requested from customers.
  • Understand customer and internal requirements and specifications for software projects, deploy proper understanding of those specs to internal organizations.
  • Forward information on customer and competitor activities relevant to interests.
  • Resolving issues on the border of hardware and software,
  • Integration with 3rd party SW components and resolving integration issues,

What You Need To Be Successful
  • 8+ years' experience in automotive electronic product development engineering (Audio industry preferred).
  • BSEE/BSCE in software, electrical engineering or related field
  • Experience with Qualcomm Hexagon DSP
  • Experience with Audio Weaver Audio Framework
  • Solid background with Digital Signal Processing, signal flow design, digital filtering etc.,
  • Proven consistent success in delivering over many product cycles, developing innovative/disruptive solutions.
  • Strong knowledge of audio/acoustic systems
  • Passion for Audio quality and performance

Skills Based Proficiencies
  • Problem solving, organizational and analytical skills
  • Excellent written & verbal communication
  • Proficient in C/C++ language.
  • Experience in audio related embedded SW development: audio driver (I2S/TDM), floating-point and fixed-point processing, audio framework, MIPS/MCPS optimization
  • Experience developing and debugging software in a real-time, embedded, multiprocessor, multi-interface environment.
  • Experience with audio interfaces: TDM/I2S/A2B
  • Familiar with HW instruments like oscilloscope, AP, signal generators etc., and embedded debug tool like emulators, debuggers etc.
  • Familiarity with ASPICE traceability requirements
  • Experienced working with vehicle networking (CAN, MOST, etc) and diagnostics (UDS, KWP2000).
