Job description

Direct Counsel is seeking a Privacy & Digital Risk Litigation Associate with 2–3 years of litigation experience to join a nationally recognized Digital Risk and Privacy practice. This is an exceptional opportunity for an attorney interested in the rapidly evolving intersection of litigation, cybersecurity, privacy, technology, and regulatory enforcement.

The ideal candidate will have experience in civil, criminal, class action, or regulatory litigation and a strong interest in handling sophisticated matters involving cybersecurity incidents, digital privacy, cybercrime, online speech, regulatory investigations, and complex commercial disputes.

Responsibilities
  • Represent clients in complex litigation involving:
    • Cybersecurity incidents
    • Digital privacy
    • Consumer class actions
    • Commercial disputes
    • Employment litigation
    • Regulatory enforcement actions
  • Assist with investigations involving:
    • Internal investigations
    • Regulatory inquiries
    • Grand jury investigations
    • Congressional investigations
  • Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and discovery.
  • Conduct legal research and develop litigation strategy.
  • Participate in mediations, arbitrations, hearings, and trial preparation.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams advising clients on cybersecurity, privacy, technology, and regulatory issues.
  • Advise clients on legal issues involving internet speech, cybercrime, intellectual property theft, and emerging technology.
Qualifications
  • J.D. from an accredited law school with a strong academic record.
  • Active admission (or eligibility for admission by waiver) in Pennsylvania, Delaware, or Washington, DC.
  • 2–3 years of litigation experience in civil, criminal, class action, or regulatory matters.
  • Strong legal research, writing, analytical, and oral advocacy skills.
  • Experience with pleadings, motion practice, discovery, and alternative dispute resolution.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple complex matters simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Judicial clerkship, law review, or other significant legal writing experience.
  • Demonstrated interest in cybersecurity, privacy, technology, and digital risk.
  • Experience or interest in:
    • Privacy litigation
    • Cybersecurity matters
    • Internet speech and First Amendment issues
    • Cybercrime
    • White-collar investigations
    • Regulatory enforcement
  • Strong project management skills and attention to detail.
  • Collaborative mindset with excellent interpersonal and client communication skills.
Compensation & Benefits
  • Washington, DC Salary: $235,000–$245,000
