Job description

About Reserv
Reserv is an insurtech creating and incubating cutting-edge AI and automation technology to bring efficiency and simplicity to claims. Founded by insurtech veterans with deep experience in SaaS and digital claims, Reserv is venture-backed by Bain Capital and Altai Ventures and began operations in May 2022. We are focused on automating highly manual tasks to tackle long-standing problems in claims and set a new standard for TPAs, insurance technology providers, and adjusters alike.
We have ambitious (but attainable!) goals and need people who can work in an evolving environment. If building a leading TPA and the prospect of tackling the long-standing challenges of the claims role sounds exciting, we can't wait to meet you.
About the role
We're standing up a dedicated claims pod for an account and we need someone to lead it. You'll run a small team of General Liability adjusters, own the health of the account, and be the person the client and your team both lean on.
This is a player-coach role, not a pure administrator. You'll still be close to the claims, reviewing tough files, weighing in on reserves and strategy, and jumping on the hardest exposures yourself. This while developing the adjusters around you and owning how the pod performs. If you've wanted the authority to actually shape how a book of business gets handled, this is that seat.
You'll also help build a tech-driven claims org from the ground up. You won't inherit a rigid playbook, you'll help write it.
Who you are
  • An experienced adjuster who's ready to lead, or a lead who wants a dedicated account to truly own.
  • A developer of people. You coach, you give real feedback, and you make the adjusters around you better.
  • Calm under pressure and decisive when a claim (or a client) needs a fast, sound call.
  • A strong communicator across audiences: your team, senior leadership, and the client.
  • Anti-status-quo. You see how claims should run and you build toward it.
  • Curious, empathetic, and in possession of a sense of humor. Leadership is hard enough as it is.

What you'll do
  • Lead and develop a pod of 4 General Liability adjusters handling Premise, Habitational, Risk Transfer, Construction, and New York Labor Law claims.
  • Own the performance and health of the dedicated account. That means quality, timeliness, outcomes, and the client relationship.
  • Review reserves, coverage positions, and settlement strategy; approve or escalate within your authority.
  • Handle escalations and the most complex, high-exposure litigated files directly.
  • Run QA and file reviews; coach to the gaps you find and raise the bar across the team.
  • Serve as the primary claims point of contact for the client including reporting, trends, and program-level recommendations.
  • Direct outside counsel and investigative vendors on significant matters.
  • Build and refine claims guidelines, best practices, and process improvements for the account, and help shape how our broader claims org operates.
  • Support hiring, onboarding, and ongoing development for the team.

Qualifications
  • Minimum of 5 years' General Liability claims experience, including complex litigated third-party bodily injury and property damage.
  • Prior team lead, supervisor, or formal mentorship/QA experience strongly preferred.
  • Deep policy interpretation skills: Reservation of Rights letters, coverage declinations, and coverage analysis.
  • Active adjuster license: resident-state license where available, otherwise a Designated Home State (DHS) license. Willing to obtain any additional required licenses within 60 days, including state testing.
  • Proven judgment on reserves, authority, and settlement strategy on high-exposure claims.
  • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent industry experience. JD or professional insurance designations are a plus.
  • Willingness to travel for client and claims needs.

This is one of two roles we're hiring for this account. We're also hiring General Liability Adjusters for the pod you'd lead - happy to talk through both.
Benefits
  • Generous health-insurance package with nationwide coverage, vision, & dental
  • 401(k) retirement plan with employer matching
  • Competitive PTO policy - we want our employees fresh, healthy, happy, and energized!
  • Generous family leave policy after 8 months of continuous work
  • Work from anywhere to facilitate your work life balance
  • Apple laptop, large second monitor, and other quality-of-life equipment you may want. Technology is something that should make your life easier, not harder!

Additionally, we will
  • Listen to your feedback to enhance and improve upon the long-standing challenges of an adjuster and the claims role
  • Work toward reducing and eliminating all the administrative work from an adjuster role
  • Foster a culture of empathy, transparency, and empowerment in a remote-first environment

At Reserv, we value diversity in backgrounds, perspectives, and life experiences and believe that diversity in viewpoints and critical thinking drives innovation, first-principles thinking, and success. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds and encourage those from all walks of life to apply. If you believe you are a good fit for this role, we would love to hear from you!
