This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Lead Backend Engineer - Piktochart based in Netherlands.

This role offers the opportunity to take ownership of the backend architecture powering a globally used visual storytelling platform. You will lead the design and evolution of scalable, secure, and high-performance systems that support millions of users creating infographics, presentations, and digital content. As a technical leader, you will work at the intersection of product, design, and engineering to deliver seamless backend solutions that directly shape user experience. The environment is collaborative and innovation-driven, with a strong emphasis on quality, continuous improvement, and engineering excellence. You will also play a key role in mentoring engineers and elevating backend practices across the team. This is a high-impact position where your technical decisions influence product scalability, reliability, and long-term platform growth.

Accountabilities:
  • Lead the design, development, and maintenance of scalable, secure, and high-performance backend architecture supporting a global SaaS platform.
  • Collaborate closely with Product, Design, and Frontend Engineering teams to deliver integrated solutions aligned with user and business needs.
  • Ensure system reliability, performance, and scalability by monitoring, optimizing, and continuously improving backend services.
  • Design and optimize database structures and queries to ensure data integrity, efficiency, and scalability under high load.
  • Conduct code reviews and enforce best practices to ensure high-quality, maintainable, and well-documented codebases.
  • Evaluate, introduce, and integrate modern tools, frameworks, and technologies to improve backend performance and development efficiency.
