Job description


I. Job Summary
The Senior Manager of Digital Planning is responsible for Digital strategic project portfolio management and cost management across Digital. The role will ensure alignment of Digital investments with business objectives, deliver optimization of Digital spend, and influence with partnerships across Business, Finance and Supply Chain. This role will report to the Director of Planning within WM Digital.
II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Facilitate the Digital portfolio management process, including prioritization, value tracking, allocation, and ongoing monitoring of Digital projects and resources. This includes coordinating the Digital Investment process, working with project managers on new submissions or changes to existing projects, coordinating meeting agendas, and ensuring that documentation of decisions is maintained for audit purposes.
  • Provide strategic guidance and recommendations on IT investment decisions based on business needs and IT capabilities.
  • Proactively deliver continuous maturity to portfolio governance aligned with leadership priorities and industry best practices.
  • Collaborate with Digital leadership and business stakeholders to develop yearly roadmaps, ensure project portfolios are in line with organizational goals, and inform financial planning processes and investment affordability each year.
  • Support Digital leadership in implementing their key priorities with appropriate budget strategies, creating and maintaining effective communication and governance mechanisms.
  • Partner with the Finance team to manage the development and execution of the budgeting process, including forecasting, tracking, reporting, and analysis of expenditures and variances.
  • Partner with Digital and Supply Chain teams to support the vendor management and governance processes to ensure visibility into costs and identify optimization opportunities.

III. Qualifications
A. Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree (accredited) in Computer Science, MIS, Business Administration or similar area of study, or in lieu of degree
  • High School Diploma or GED (accredited) and 4 years of relevant experience
  • 8 years or more of previous experience (in addition to education requirement)

B. Preferred Qualifications
  • Project Management Certification
  • ITIL
  • Certified Software Test Engineer
  • 5 years of IT planning, budgeting, vendor management, or portfolio management experience
  • Strong knowledge of IT financial management, IT service management, and IT project management methodologies and tools.
  • Experience maturing governance and operating processes
  • Experience supporting senior executive leadership in a strategy or planning capacity
  • Demonstrated leadership and coaching skills with the ability to motivate and inspire others.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to balance competing priorities and trade-offs.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate with senior executives and cross-functional teams.
  • High ownership mindset with the ability to operate independently
  • Ability to drive process rigor and operating discipline at scale
