Job description

Job Title: Laundry Tunnel Operator

Reports to: Laundry Dept.Manager/Asst. Manager

Note: Laundry positions are safety sensitive, requiring the utmost attention of employees to potential safety concerns.ย  The Laundry Facility is non-air conditioned.ย  High humidity, heat, and cold are environmental factors in this facility.

Minimum Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Perform physical activities that require moving one's whole body, such as bending, twisting, reaching, climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, kneeling and squatting. Able to lift 40 lbs. on a regular basis
  • Able to stand in excess of 7 hours during a regular shift
  • Match or detect differences between colors, including shades of color and brightness
  • Make quick, coordinated and repeated movements with fingers, hands, and wrists.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Serves as a representative of Brett/Robinson, displaying courtesy, tact, consideration, and discretion in all interactions with other employees of Brett/Robinson, owners, guests, and other members of the community
  • Operates the tunnel control station, directing the laundry process from initial load through wash, extraction, and transfer to drying
  • Programs and adjusts wash formulas, water levels, temperatures, and chemical injection rates according to fabric type and soil level
  • Watches gauges, dials, digital displays, and other indicators to ensure the tunnel system is operating properly
  • Coordinates the flow of articles through the tunnel system, adjusting speed and sequencing to maintain continuous production
  • Directs loaders, sorters, and dryer operators to keep production moving smoothly from station to station
  • Identifies equipment malfunctions, jams, or irregularities, and promptly reports mechanical issues to the Laundry Manager or maintenance
  • Maintains accurate production records, including load counts, chemical usage, and cycle times
  • Cleans machine filters and lint traps, and keeps the tunnel station, floor, and surrounding equipment clean
  • Shares in general laundry production tasks as needed, including sorting, loading and unloading, folding, and pressing articles
  • Examines and sorts articles to be cleaned into lots, according to color, fabric, dirt content, and cleaning technique required
  • Reports safety hazards
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Working Conditions:

  • Ability to work flexible hours, 40+ hours per week, 7 days a week; according to seasonal needs
  • Work environment includes exposure to inclement weather, heat, humidity, and cold
  • Regular attendance and punctuality are expected in accordance to company policy
