Job description

Compensation: $23 per hour plus applicable shift premium   Shift:  Afternoon, Monday - Friday: 3pm - 11pm

Job Summary

The Operator is responsible for ensuring that the product received from Digital Printing is folded as per job requirements. This person follows all procedures specific to each job by checking sample books and instructions provided. The operator is responsible for performing all quality checks and adhering to all security policies and procedures.

Responsibilities
  • Follow a detailed schedule to retreive correct orders and output
  • Fold the output following job specifications
  • Ensure VIP's take priority
  • Quality Control checking to ensure jobs are correct, in right sequencial order and balanced
  • Ensure all blanks and headers are pulled from jobs
  • Responsible for filling out colour-coded tags as required
  • Responsible for machine setup, minor adjustments and clean machines
  • Sign and scan out jobs and notify Traffic when complete
  • Escalate to lead as required on quality or production issues
  • Fill out daily worksheets with correct totals 
  • Adhere to all Health and Safety, Environment and Security policies and procedures
  • Placing service calls and filling out service call sheets when needed
  • Keep the work area neat and clean, emptying garbage at the end of each shift
  • Assist in other production-related duties as assigned
  • Cross-train in other job functions as assigned
  • Attend DP Communication meetings
  • Comply with G+D Environmental, Health & Safety  policies, procedures and report any Environmental, Health & Safety hazards, incidents and concerns to the immediate supervisor
Qualifications, Experience and Educational RequirementsWork Experience:
  • Experience in operating MBO, BAUM folders an asset

  • Experience in working within a digital print environment is preferred

Skills and Competencies:
  • Strong verbal, written communication and organizational skills
  • Work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Attention to detail and hand-eye coordination
  • Able to work independently or as a member of team
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Mathematical ability e.g. addition, subtraction, problem-solving
  • Basic knowledge of computers
Education:
  • Completed high school diploma or some post-education is preferred
Working Conditions
  • In loud environment, hearing protection is required
  • Safety work shoes are required
  • Some weekend overtime may be required
  • Ability to occasionally stay late to meet client requirements is preferred
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs
  • Required to stand for long periods of time
