This involves scanning traditional glass slides to create high-resolution digital images that can be viewed, analyzed, and shared electronically. Digital pathology enables pathologists to collaborate remotely, utilize advanced image analysis, and improve workflow efficiency. It is increasingly used in clinical diagnostics, research, and education to enhance accuracy and accessibility.

How does a digital pathology professional typically collaborate with laboratory staff and IT teams?

Digital Pathology professionals regularly work alongside laboratory technologists to ensure that tissue slides are scanned accurately and that image quality meets diagnostic standards. They also collaborate closely with IT teams to maintain image databases, troubleshoot software or hardware issues, and implement new digital solutions. Effective communication and teamwork are essential, as integrating digital systems often requires coordinating workflow changes and training staff on new technologies.
