  • Experience organizing in Virginia, particularly in electoral, issue-based, or community organizing.ย ย ย

What You'll Doย ย 

As a Community Organizer,ย you'llย build grassroots power by recruiting, training, and mobilizing volunteers while strengthening relationships across your assigned region. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:ย ย 

Community Organizing & Volunteer Engagementย ย 

  • Recruit, train, mentor, and mobilize volunteers and community leaders to advance PPSAT's advocacy and electoral priorities.ย ย ย 

  • Develop andย maintainย a strong volunteer network through grassroots outreach, voter engagement, leadership development, and community events.ย ย ย 

  • Build authentic relationships with community members, coalition partners, and local organizations.ย ย ย 

  • Represent PPSAT throughout your assigned communities at meetings, events, and public forums.ย ย ย 

  • Identifyย community needs and independently develop organizing plans that support PPSAT's mission.ย ย ย 

Advocacy & Electoral Organizingย ย 

  • Support local, state, and federal advocacy campaigns focused on reproductive health, rights, and justice.ย ย ย 

  • Organize rapid-response actions, rallies, lobby days, and other advocacy events.ย ย ย 

  • Participate in legislative activities during General Assembly sessions, helping connect constituents with elected officials and supporting policy initiatives.ย ย ย 

  • Coordinate voter education and voter engagement efforts, including volunteerย training, phone banks, canvassing, and candidate engagement.ย ย ย 

  • Participate in statewide and regional electoral coalitions to advance organizing goals.ย ย ย 

Coalition & Constituency Engagementย ย 

  • Strengthen partnerships with advocacy organizations, community leaders, and coalition members.ย ย 

  • Support constituency organizing programs, including Black Organizing,ย Raiz, and other community engagement initiatives.ย ย ย 

  • Develop leadership opportunities for young people andย maintainย relationships with student organizations, including Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs).ย ย ย 

  • Partner with the Patient Advocacy Program to engage patients and community members in advocacy opportunities.ย ย ย 

Communications & Data Managementย ย 

  • Collaborate with the Marketing & Communications team to implement digital organizing campaigns and social media engagement.ย ย ย 

  • Maintainย accurateย volunteer and program data using organizing databases.ย ย ย 

  • Support public speaking opportunities and media engagement as appropriate.ย ย ย 

Administrative & Team Responsibilitiesย ย 

  • Complete administrative tasks, including reporting, data entry, and required documentation.ย ย ย 

  • Foster a collaborative, inclusive, andย solution-oriented work environment.ย ย ย 

  • Follow all PPSAT policies, procedures, training requirements, and attendance expectations.ย ย  ย ย 

Flexible Scheduleย ย 

This is a full-time, 40-hour-per-week position. Standard hours areย generally Mondayย through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., working remotely or in the community. Evening and weekend workย areย regularlyย requiredย to support community events, volunteer activities, advocacy campaigns, and elections.ย  ย ย 

Qualificationsย ย 

Minimum Qualificationsย ย 

  • Two or more years of experience in grassroots organizing, preferably inย issueย advocacy and/or electoral campaigns.ย ย ย 

  • Experience recruiting, training, and managing volunteers.ย ย ย 

  • Demonstrated experienceย organizing withย diverse communities and advancing equity-centered initiatives.ย ย ย 

  • Experience working alongside communities of color in advocacy, organizing, or electoral campaigns.ย ย ย 

  • Commitment to Planned Parenthood's mission and advancing reproductive health, rights, and justice.ย ย 

  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, and project management skills.ย ย ย 

  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.ย ย ย 

  • Ability to explain complex public policy issues in clear, accessible language.ย ย ย 

  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.ย ย ย 

  • Comfortable using Microsoft Office applications, email, and calendar platforms.ย ย ย 

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.ย ย ย 

Preferred Qualificationsย ย 

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, or equivalent combination of education and related experience.ย ย ย 

  • Experience using VAN/EveryActionย or similar organizing databases.ย ย ย 

  • Knowledge of reproductive health, rights, and justice issues.ย ย ย 

  • Previousย involvement with Planned Parenthood, including PP Generation Action, volunteer leadership, or organizing initiatives.ย ย ย

Compensationย ย 

At Planned Parenthood South Atlantic, our compensation philosophy is rooted inย equity, transparency, and market competitiveness. Every position is assigned to a salary grade based on market data. New hires areย generally placedย between the minimum and midpoint of the salary range based on qualifications, experience, internal equity, and relevant skills.ย ย 

Pay Range:ย $27.75 - $33.45 per hourย
