Job at a Glance 
Title: Network Operations Engineer 
Location: Philadelphia, PA 
Contract: W2 only, 6-month contract with potential for extension or conversion to full time with either the client or CEI 

Environment: 24/7 operations (on-call rotation, weekends/holidays as needed) 

Pay: $50/hour + optional medical, dental, vision, 401(k) match 

Overview 

This team is building a next-generation distributed cable network architecture to deliver faster speeds and increased bandwidth using virtualization. 

We are seeking a Network Operations Engineer II to support vCMTS (virtual CMTS) and RPHY deployments across a nationwide network. This role combines systems and networking expertise to support critical infrastructure in a high-availability environment. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Support vCMTS platform setup, system installation, and network maintenance 

  • Execute system upgrades, change management, and automation scripting 

  • Monitor systems and perform incident mitigation in a 24/7 environment 

  • Identify recurring issues and partner with engineering teams on long-term solutions 

  • Troubleshoot network, server, and application issues 

  • Develop and maintain automation scripts (Python, Bash) 

  • Collaborate with product and project teams to deploy and operationalize new solutions 

  • Participate in an on-call rotation 
     

Required Qualifications 

  • ~3+ years of experience in a 24x7 production operations environment 

  • Strong understanding of: 

    • Networking fundamentals (critical) – troubleshooting & configuration 

    • Linux/Unix systems administration 

    • Scripting (Python, Bash) 

  • Experience troubleshooting server hardware and software issues 

  • Hands-on experience with networking devices (Cisco, Juniper, Arista) 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Experience with Kubernetes, Jenkins, Ansible, Git 

  • Exposure to automation, monitoring, and service management tools 

  • Certifications such as CCNA or JNCIA 

  • Experience with new product integration or large-scale deployments
