Job description

Role Summary

The Digital Technician supports the studio photography team by managing the technical workflow during ecommerce shoots. This role ensures accurate image capture, file management, color balance, and delivery of assets for post-production and web publishing. The Digital Technician plays a critical role in maintaining image quality, consistency, and operational efficiency across the studio. This includes hardware/software maintenance, color calibration, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to meet production deadlines.

Role Responsibilities

Capture & Workflow Management

  • Manage image capture during ecommerce shoots, ensuring proper file naming, metadata tagging, and backup procedures.
  • Collaborate with photographers, production and stylists to ensure accurate and consistent image capture aligned with brand standards.
  • Support art directors and stylists in making image selects and preparing final assets for post-production and web delivery.

Post-Production Preparation

  • Process and organize captured images using Capture One and other tools to ensure readiness for retouching and publishing.
  • Communicate AD retouching notes on specific sessions.
  • Assist the retouching team with file preparation and DAM ingest.
  • Ensure all assets meet technical specifications for web use, including color accuracy, resolution, and file format.

Studio Technology & Maintenance

  • Maintain and troubleshoot studio hardware and software, including cameras, tethering systems, and workstations.
  • Perform regular monitor calibrations to ensure accurate color representation across all capture stations.
  • Collaborate with the Sr. Tech and Post Production Manager to maintain and organize the studio's image archive.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with sample coordinators, stylists, and production team to ensure timely delivery of assets to the web team.
  • Communicate proactively with production and creative teams to resolve technical issues and improve workflow efficiency.
  • Research and recommend improvements to digital workflows and studio technology.
Role Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Education: BFA in Photography or equivalent experience is preferred.

Experience: Basic photography studio experience. Knowledgeable of digital photography workflow.

Technical Knowledge: Hands-on experience with the Canon EOS system. Retouching/Photoshop proficiency strongly preferred. Mac OS X proficiency. Hands-on experience with Capture One Pro required. RAW processing proficiency. General web image knowledge, such as web standards and color spaces. Minor IT and troubleshooting skills. DAM experience a plus.

Communication: Positive, professional, and timely communication with teams, supporting departments, vendors, and suppliers.

Time Management: Proactively plans and controls time to efficiently deliver team priorities and meet deadlines. Extremely organized and able to multitask in high-pressure environments.
