What is the difference between Digital Forensic vs Cyber Security Analyst?
| Aspect | Digital Forensic | Cyber Security Analyst |
|---|---|---|
| Required Credentials | Certifications like GCFA, GCFE, EnCE | Certifications like CISSP, CEH, Security+ |
| Work Environment | Investigations, labs, law enforcement, legal settings | Network monitoring, threat analysis, security infrastructure |
| Employer & Industry Usage | Law enforcement, legal firms, government agencies | Private companies, corporations, government agencies |
Digital Forensic specialists focus on investigating cybercrimes, analyzing digital evidence, and working within legal contexts. Cyber Security Analysts primarily protect systems from threats, monitor networks, and implement security measures. While both roles require technical skills and certifications, Digital Forensic work is more investigative and legal-oriented, whereas Cyber Security Analysts focus on prevention and defense.

TechINT Solutions Group (TechINT) is recognized for its knowledge and experience in providing innovative technology exploitation, operational intelligence, counter unmanned aerial systems and cyber security. TechINT is recruiting for a skilled individual to work on site at the Terrorist Explosive Device Analytical Center (TEDAC) Technical Exploitation Unit (TExU). The successful applicant will play a critical role in uncovering the truth hidden within today's most complex electronic devices. From mobile phones and memory cards to drones, IoT systems, and custom electronics, you will apply advanced forensic methodologies to extract, preserve, and analyze digital evidence in support of high-impact law enforcement investigations. Your expertise in identifying digital artifacts, tracing malicious activity, and understanding adversarial tools, tactics, and procedures will directly support efforts to counter emerging threats. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on analytical challenges, has a deep curiosity for how systems are exploited, and possesses the meticulous attention to detail required to follow digital footprints wherever they lead.

Your work will support both warfighter and law enforcement operations, helping to identify threats, understand adversary capabilities, and develop new methods to exploit and analyze emerging technologies. Our team performs a wide range of technical examinations required to successfully exploit both commercial and custom electronic devices, including performing electronic data recovery and digital forensic examinations to identify and understand information of interest. In addition, you'll conduct reverse engineering and characterization of both the electrical function and communication characteristics of electronic circuits, while using complex instrumentation to test circuit function. *NOTE: This position will have TDYs. They will typically last 1-2 weeks!

- Ability to prepare written documents, including reports, test plans, design specifications, requirements documents, and training materials
- Ability to brief and present findings to clients, customers, and external partners, interact with client engineers, and respond to technical questions and requests from customers
- Bachelor's degree
- Must have TS clearance active to be considered
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with modern software exploitation techniques, secure boot process, and bootloader design implementation for iOS or Android platforms
- Experience with static reverse engineering of software binaries, including Ghidra or IDA Pro
- Experience testing electronic or electrical devices with standard lab equipment, including oscilloscopes, power supplies, RF signal generators, waveform generators, audio analyzers, DSP analyzers, and multimeters
- Experience performing analysis, generating schematics, and troubleshooting electronic or electrical devices to the component level in various conditions
- Experience with Chain of Custody and evidence handling procedures in a forensic laboratory
- Experience with Python, C, or C++ programming languages
