Job Overview:
We're looking for a motivated and curious Marketing Intern who is excited to gain hands-on experience across a wide range of marketing disciplines. This role is designed to provide broad exposure to how a retail marketing team operates day-to-day supporting real campaigns and learning how strategy comes to life across channels.
This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to explore multiple areas of marketing rather than specialize in just one, while building practical skills and working alongside cross-functional teams.
What does it mean to be part of the Internship Program at Cub?
This internship program offers current college students a hands-on opportunity to explore Cub and gain exposure to the core functions of our organization. Designed to bridge academic learning with real-world application, the program provides a robust educational experience for undergraduates.
Interns will engage in project-based work across multiple disciplines, developing a strong understanding of the strategy, execution, and operations behind a leading grocery distribution organization. The program aims to cultivate future leaders within Cub and the broader grocery industry by enhancing the intern's business acumen, professional skills, and industry knowledge through mentorship and business aptitude training.
Job Responsibilities:
Retail Marketing & Promotions (Primary Focus)
• Support weekly and seasonal campaigns (circular, digital, in-store)
• Learn how customer-facing promotions are planned and executed
• Gain exposure to customer behavior and traffic driving strategies
Digital & Social Marketing (Primary Focus)
• Assist with social media and digital campaign execution
• Support email/CRM initiatives and basic reporting
• Coordinate digital assets (banners, website updates)
Content & Creative Support (Primary Focus)
• Assist with social/content ideas and basic copywriting
• Support asset organization and light creative production tasks
• Help with formatting/resizing creative for digital and print
Cross-Functional Exposure (Secondary / Learning)
• Collaborate with merchandising, operations, and agency partners
• Learn how campaigns come together across teams and channels

Job Requirements:
Education/ Certifications:
• Degree / Major: Junior or Senior in a Marketing/Advertising, Business, Communications, or related college program at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities
• GPA of 3.0 or higher
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S
• Must be a rising Junior or Senior (minimum of 60 credits completed by the start of the program)
Experience:
• Weekly Hours: ~16 hours/week during the 10-12 week internship beginning Fall of 2026
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills; creative mindset with a willingness to contribute ideas
• Basic familiarity with social media platforms; design tools are a plus (but not required)
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative attitude
• Competency
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Commitment to professionalism, discretion, and high ethical standards.
Knowledge/Skills/ Abilities
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Teams, is required.
• The role involves creating and managing data in Excel, preparing clear and professional documents in Word, building presentations, and collaborating effectively through Microsoft Teams and other productivity tools.
• Good judgment is required for this position as there may be times when direct supervision may not be immediately available.
Work Environment:
Hybrid Role:
• This position follows a hybrid schedule working in office up to 3 days per week. The acceptable split between onsite and remote work is determined by the manager. Hybrid associates may choose to work from an office on a more frequent basis than required.
