Job description

Position Summary

We are seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain heavy-duty trucks, trailers, and commercial equipment. The ideal candidate has strong troubleshooting abilities, experience with diesel engines and truck systems, and a commitment to producing quality repairs while maintaining safety and efficiency standards.

This position offers the opportunity to work with a variety of commercial truck manufacturers, diesel engines, and fleet equipment while utilizing advanced diagnostic technology and manufacturer repair procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform diagnostics on diesel engines, electrical systems, drivetrains, transmissions, brakes, steering, suspension, HVAC, and hydraulic systems.
  • Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and replace defective mechanical and electrical components.
  • Complete preventative maintenance services, including oil changes, filter replacements, fluid checks, lubrication, and scheduled inspections.
  • Perform engine repairs, overhauls, and component replacements as needed.
  • Repair and maintain emissions and aftertreatment systems, including DPF, SCR, DEF, and EGR components.
  • Diagnose and repair air brake systems in accordance with DOT and manufacturer standards.
  • Utilize OEM diagnostic software, scan tools, and computerized equipment to identify mechanical issues.
  • Perform electrical troubleshooting, wiring repairs, and battery/charging system diagnostics.
  • Complete drivetrain repairs including clutches, differentials, axles, wheel seals, and suspension components.
  • Maintain accurate repair orders, inspection reports, and labor documentation.
  • Follow manufacturer specifications and company repair procedures.
  • Conduct road tests and quality inspections to verify completed repairs.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Assist other technicians when needed and collaborate with service advisors and parts personnel.
  • Participate in ongoing technical and manufacturer training programs.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Technical school or diesel technology certification preferred.
  • 2+ years of diesel repair experience (entry-level technicians with formal training encouraged to apply).
  • Experience working on Class 6-8 trucks, trailers, fleet vehicles, buses, construction equipment, or heavy equipment preferred.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and diagnostic skills.
  • Experience using computerized diagnostic software and scan tools.
  • Ability to read wiring diagrams and service manuals.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • CDL or willingness to obtain one is a plus.
  • ASE Medium/Heavy Truck Certifications are preferred but not required.
  • OEM certifications (Cummins, Detroit, PACCAR, Volvo, Mack, Allison, International, Freightliner, etc.) are a plus.
