Job Summary: As a Diesel Technician I, you'll perform basic to mid-range diagnostics, troubleshooting, maintenance, and basic repairs and replacements.
Key Responsibilities & Essential Functions:

  • Troubleshooting / Maintenance / Repair & Replacement:
    • Performs basic to mid-range diagnostics and troubleshooting
    • Performs basic welding
    • Performs basic repairs, preventative maintenance, and replacements in assigned classification
    • May work with others in an apprentice-style environment
    • Performs preventative and predictive repair maintenance as assigned
    • Assists in basic welding, repair, and brake systems; repairs / replaces / adjusts clutch
    • Troubleshoots / repairs basic electrical systems, engine operations, trans / differential operations, air conditioning, and cooling systems
    • Performs safety-sensitive tractor repairs with some degree of Trainer or Foreman assistance depending on Tech's experience
    • Performs state inspections
    • Performs Associate Diesel Tech duties

Qualifications & Key Requirements:
Work Experience:

  • 1+ years of mechanical experience or 2+ years of trade school - Required
  • Experience as a tractor mechanic - Required


Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • A skilled level of welding (preferred) - Preferred
  • Working knowledge of all shop safety requirements - Required
  • Familiarity with general preventative maintenance and safety procedures - Required
  • Computer skills - Required
  • General mechanical aptitude - Required
  • Obtain the minimum expected tool set - Required


Education:

  • HS Diploma or GED or equivalent - Required

Licenses/Certifications:

  • Ability to obtain a valid Texas Commercial Driver's License within 6 months - Required
  • Actively pursuing certification for next Technician level - Required
  • Complete TMT training - Required
  • Meet H-E-B driving qualifications - Required
  • Obtain state inspection DOT certification within 1 year of hire - Required
  • Obtain / maintain OEM certification in brakes, suspension, electrical, HVAC, welding, and TIA - Required


Physical Demands & Working Conditions:

  • Work in a team environment
  • Lift 100 lbs and carry a distance of 5 ft
  • Work sitting, standing, stooping, bending, and in a prone position
  • Work with hands over head
  • Climb; work from a ladder
