Job Description Job Description Summary The position of CAD Technician at DRC Heat Transfer works to create machine programs and drawings for a variety of standard and custom products using specialized computer software. Additionally, CAD Technician assists the Product Engineering team with daily tasks. The Product Engineering group is responsible for New Product Development (NPD) for manufacturing in DRC's five Chicagoland production facilities.

CAD Technicians also provide Continuous Product Development (CPD) support to designers and manufacturing staff in an effort to maintain a high standard of quality and continually improved efficiencies. This allows DRC Heat Transfer to provide exceptional products and services in a timely manner to our customers. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Create design documentation for new design CAD models Customer Quote Support drawings Assembly/Inspection drawings Weldment drawings Sheet metal bending instructions CNC program lists Develop and maintain part lists and BOMs Ensure consistency between CAD models, drawings, and BOM data Update documentation to reflect design revisions Create machine programs (G-codes, NC-codes, M-codes) Participate in Peer Design Reviews with design team and produce final drafts based on meeting notes Maintain records of revisions within a PDM system Oversee prototype manufacturing Address prototype manufacturing questions Process ECRs (Engineering Change Requests) and maintain records of all revisions Provide Production Team with fixtures and other technical support to aid in product manufacturing Produce three-dimensional models of jigs/fixtures Make revisions based on feedback from Design or Production team Create documentation for standard parts Perform other job-related tasks as assigned Job Requirements Must have reliable transportation and be able to travel to all DRC locations as required Excellent interpersonal skills Strong written and verbal skills Outstanding attention to detail Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Must be self-motivated and team orientated Must be able to visualize solutions using 3D design concepts and manufacturing methods Knowledge of machine tool processes and capabilities Able to research and implement cost effective solutions Education/Training/Experience Degree in or a related Technical Degree required Proven experience with drafting, mechanical engineering and 3D modeling helpful Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Metacam, and other design software required Experience working in a manufacturing environment preferred Knowledge of mechanical punch presses, press brakes, welders, and machining processes is a plus Company Description BETTER STRONGER FASTER Since 1970, DRC Heat Transfer has been dedicated to providing high-quality, heavy-duty cooling solutions, with excellent customer support and service.
