Diesel Mechanic - Sarasota, FL

We are partnered with a family owned business hiring a skilled and dependable Diesel Mechanic to maintain and repair their fleet of equipment, trucks and heavy machinery. This role is critical to keeping operations running efficiently and safely. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical knowledge, experience with diesel engines and hydraulic systems and takes pride in high-quality work.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose, repair and maintain diesel trucks, trailer-mounted concrete pumps and heavy equipment
  • Perform routine inspections, preventative maintenance and safety checks
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic and electrical issues
  • Repair or replace defective parts, components and systems
  • Maintain accurate service records and report equipment status
  • Respond to breakdowns in the field when necessary
  • Ensure all work is completed in compliance with safety standards and regulations
  • Collaborate with operators and management to prioritize repairs and minimize downtime

Required Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a diesel or heavy equipment mechanic
  • Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics and electrical systems
  • Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues efficiently
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license
  • Own basic tools (preferred but not required)
  • Strong work ethic, reliability and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Physical ability to lift heavy parts and work in a hands-on environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with concrete pumps or construction equipment
  • Welding and fabrication skills
  • Experience with fleet maintenance programs
