Job description

Job Description We are seeking an experienced Diesel Mechanic to support the maintenance and repair of a mixed fleet of trucks, trailers, and heavy equipment. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on mechanical work, can troubleshoot issues independently, and takes pride in keeping equipment safe, reliable, and ready for daily operation. The Diesel Mechanic will perform inspections, diagnostics, preventive maintenance, and repairs on diesel-powered vehicles and related equipment.

This position plays a key role in reducing downtime, supporting field operations, and ensuring all equipment is maintained to a high safety and performance standard. Key Responsibilities Diagnose and repair diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, brakes, drivetrains, suspensions, and related components Perform routine preventive maintenance, inspections, and service work on trucks, trailers, and equipment Identify mechanical issues and determine the most effective repair approach Maintain accurate service records, repair notes, and inspection documentation Support DOT-related inspections and safety compliance requirements Troubleshoot equipment breakdowns and complete repairs in a timely manner Replace or repair worn parts, components, hoses, fittings, wiring, and mechanical assemblies Keep shop areas, tools, and workspaces organized and safe Communicate repair status, parts needs, and equipment concerns to management Assist with emergency repairs or field support when needed Follow all company safety practices and proper lockout/tagout procedures Qualifications Prior experience as a diesel mechanic, fleet mechanic, heavy equipment mechanic, or related maintenance technician Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical troubleshooting, brakes, and general vehicle systems Ability to diagnose mechanical issues and complete repairs with minimal supervision Experience working on trucks, trailers, construction equipment, or industrial equipment preferred Familiarity with DOT inspections and fleet maintenance standards is a plus Must have own basic hand tools Ability to lift, bend, climb, and work in a hands-on shop environment Valid driver's license required; CDL is a plus Strong attention to detail and commitment to safe work practices Ideal Candidate The right person for this role is dependable, mechanically skilled, and comfortable working in a fast-paced maintenance environment. They should be able to balance routine service work with unexpected repairs, communicate clearly with operations, and take ownership of keeping equipment running properly.
