Job description

Job Summary:

Will be responsible for set up and operation of diamond turning machines in the production of low and high volume production jobs. These jobs have tight tolerance and are complex in nature. The employee will train others as directed by the Operations Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Operate diamond turning machines to manufacture mold nubbins and prototype lenses.
  • Clean and visually inspect diamond turned lenses.
  • Inspect lenses using metrology equipment.
  • Record inspection data, labor hours and job information as required.
  • Clean and maintain the diamond turning machines as required.
  • Diamond Tool Inspection and handling
  • Vacuum chuck mounting and machining.
  • Spindle balancing
  • Diamond Tool Set up โ€“ multiple tools
  • Machine adjustment and program parameter changes to maintain lens tolerance.
  • Machining of diffractive surfaces.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • When requested, may work on special projects and various related assignments.
  • May be required to work in various areas of operations when necessary
  • Performs other related duties and assignments as required.
  • Keeps work area clean and organized

The employee must also occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close vision and color vision. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete and abstract variables in situations where only limited standardization exists

The noise level in the work environment may range from moderate to loud.

Education, Skills and Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years experience in diamond turning field preferred.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Must be a good team player.
