The Diabetes Educator is responsible for providing education programs/services to all participants of the Capital Region Diabetes and Endocrine Center. The Diabetes Educator is utilized as a resource consultant to staff members, physicians and other health professionals as they provide diabetes education within the agency and in the community. Leadership is evidenced through collaborative program design, implementation, and evaluation; participation in departmental and interdepartmental committees, through clinical consultative services; and commitment to enhancing personal professional growth. RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION
The Diabetes Educator functions as an expert clinician in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care for the patient with diabetes across the lifespan (pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric.)
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The position is located indoors and does some outdoor work under normal working conditions. Should be able to push/pull 30 pounds, lift/move 20 pounds from floor to table, and be able to perform moderately difficult manual manipulations requiring eye-hand coordination such as patient care and use of computers and complex equipment. Mobility requirements may include the ability to sit and stand for prolonged periods of time, in addition to being able to walk for a reasonable length of time and distance. Valid NYS driver’s license and access to a car for travel to perform educational activities at multiple sites. Sensory requirements include the ability to articulate and comprehend the spoken English language in addition to being able to read the English language.

Salary Range: $31.50-$47.26 /hour Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
