Job description

The Business Development team is seeking an Associate to support the full range of team activities, as well as business development efforts across the firm's practice areas. The Associate will help manage team operations, scheduling, prospective client deliverables, and other functions critical to the smooth execution of the BD team's work. As the Associate becomes adept at supporting day-to-day operations, they will collaborate with colleagues across the firm to help develop, edit, and refine written products in line with DGA BD best practices. This role offers significant exposure to the firm's business development strategy and client work, providing opportunities to build geopolitical, regional, and sectoral expertise while developing strong analytical, writing, and client engagement skills.

Washington, DC (hybrid, with a minimum of 3 days per week in the office)
Responsibilities
Administrative Support:
Supports the BD team lead with scheduling, team operations, and other duties as needed; and engages with clients in a support role, as requested. This may include:
  • Managing administrative functions and operational tasks for the BD team, including coordinating schedules, meetings, appointments, and travel arrangements.
  • Preparing, editing, and formatting correspondence, presentations, proposals, briefing materials, reports, and other client-facing or internal documents.
  • Recording, transcribing, and distributing meeting notes and action items, while ensuring appropriate follow-through on deliverables.
  • Supporting communications and coordination with clients, external stakeholders, and DGA colleagues across practices and regions.
  • Assisting in the planning and execution of internal and external events, conferences, client meetings, and business development engagements.
  • Periodically evaluating team operations and workflows to identify opportunities for increased efficiency, organization, and adoption of new technologies or tools.
  • Coordinating with colleagues across DGA divisions to support workflow management, project execution, and cross-functional collaboration.

Business Development:
Supports the team lead and senior staff in business development efforts across the firm. Responsibilities may include:
  • Conducting research on companies, sectors, geopolitical developments, and market trends to support business development strategy and client engagement efforts.
  • Identifying prospective client opportunities and helping prepare colleagues for BD discussions through the development of research memos, briefing materials, presentations, and proposals.
  • Supporting the drafting, editing, and quality control of written products in line with DGA business development best practices.
  • Assisting in the preparation of pitch materials, capabilities statements, and tailored client outreach materials.
  • Helping maintain and update the firm's business development pipeline and CRM platform, ensuring accurate tracking of opportunities, engagements, and client interactions.
  • Monitoring relevant geopolitical, regulatory, and industry developments that may create opportunities for client engagement or strategic advisory support.
  • Learning DGA best practices in research, product delivery, marketing, and client service activities, including the use of proprietary knowledge and diverse public information sources.

Perform other duties as assigned at the discretion of management.

  • Excellent presentation, writing, and analytical skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities, with a proactive approach to networking and stakeholder engagement
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with creative, solution-oriented, problem-solving skills
  • Familiarity with the use of AI models is a plus.
