What are some common challenges Dexa Scan Techs face when working with diverse patient populations?

Dexa Scan Techs often encounter patients with varying levels of mobility, medical conditions, and anxiety about medical procedures. Adapting the scanning process for patients with limited movement or discomfort can be challenging, requiring both technical skill and empathy. Most technologist roles in medical imaging have lower salary ranges, often between $60,000 and $100,000 per year.

How to become a dexa scan tech?

To become a DEXA scan technician, you typically need to complete a relevant radiologic technology or medical imaging program and obtain certification such as the Certified Radiologic Technologist (CRT) or a specialized DEXA certification. Prior experience with imaging equipment and knowledge of anatomy and patient positioning are also important. Licensing requirements vary by region but generally include passing a certification exam and maintaining continuing education.

What are Dexa Scan Techs?

Dexa Scan Techs, also known as DEXA (Dual-Energy X-ray Absorptiometry) Technologists, are healthcare professionals who operate DEXA scanners to measure bone mineral density. They help diagnose conditions like osteoporosis by performing scans and ensuring accurate imaging results.
