A Dexa Fit technician is a trained professional who operates DEXA (Dual-Energy X-ray Absorptiometry) scanners to measure body composition, including bone density, fat mass, and lean muscle mass. They guide clients through the scanning process, ensure accurate results, and help interpret the data to assist with health and fitness goals. To thrive as a DEXA Technician, you need a background in radiologic technology or a related field, often supported by ARRT certification or state licensure. Familiarity with DEXA scanning equipment, imaging software, and patient data management systems is typically required. Excellent attention to detail, strong interpersonal communication, and the ability to reassure and instruct patients are standout soft skills. These competencies ensure accurate diagnostic results, patient safety, and a positive patient experience during bone density assessments.
