Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer
Location: Huntsville, Alabama
Pay Range: $57-59 per hour (Higher for 7-10+ years experience)

Job Type: W2 Contract.
Expected Hours per Week: 40 hours per week.
Schedule: Monday-Friday

Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to translate engineering intent, drawings, and configurations into operational manufacturing steps and processes to produce fully functional hardware at scale. This role will support builds, develop manufacturing work instructions, qualify new technology, and lead DFMA studies to improve the feedback loop between design, build, and test.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Define how to prepare hardware for test, qualification, and flight.
  • Translate engineering intent, drawings, and configurations into fully functional hardware.
  • Identify, develop, and deploy new manufacturing methods to improve quality, reduce cost, and optimize build schedules.
  • Conduct FMEA studies to strengthen the feedback loop between design, build, and test.
  • Design proper material handling and packaging to protect hardware throughout the build and test process.
  • Develop manufacturing work instructions for receiving inspection, fabrication, assembly, integration, test, and refurbishment.
  • Manage cost, quality, build sequence, and schedule throughout the manufacturing process.
  • Create in-build redlines and recommend engineering changes to improve design.
  • Lead DFM and DFA reviews.
  • Perform engineering drawing reviews and provide final approval for manufacturing.
  • Develop process control measures and evaluate performance through statistical analysis.
  • Disposition and support non-conformance repair and rework activities.
  • Perform root cause analysis when non-conformances or escapes are identified and deploy corrective actions.
  • Interface with suppliers and manufacturing partners to ensure hardware and equipment are manufactured, processed, packaged, and delivered properly, on time, and on budget.
  • Design, procure, install, and integrate custom manufacturing equipment.
  • Manage hardware configuration and maintain pedigree throughout the build and test process.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing or production engineering capacity, including internships.
  • Strong mechanical or electrical engineering fundamentals.
  • Demonstrated experience defining manufacturing process flows and selecting production equipment for electromechanical hardware.
  • Strong mechanical engineering fundamentals including GD&T, tolerance analysis, precision fits, and structural assembly.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, GD&T, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and interconnect drawings.
  • Strong written, personal, technical, and software skills including CAD, issue tracking tools, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Hands-on experience in an electric motor or rotating electrical machine manufacturing facility.
  • Experience with avionics, wire harnesses, structures, spacecraft propulsion systems, mechanical systems, thermal protection systems, thermal management systems, or environmental instrumentation for aerospace.
  • Experience standing up new production lines or manufacturing cells, including equipment procurement and layout.
  • Experience developing spacecraft or other Aerospace, Defense, and High Performance hardware.
  • Ability to obtain a DBIDS or NASA badge.
